KYNINERSFAN Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I personally believe that the young men from Lewis County deserve the upmost respect. They have pretty much been blown out every game but by golly they hung in there through it all. And they played with great heart. My hat is off to these fellas. If they gave out awards for heart these young men deserve it. You guys have a true football heart. My deepest respect goes out to them and the coaches. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Most people don't even understand, all they see is the scores of the games. They don't take into consideration that practices are even worse than that. You have to go half line against half line to get any quality practice time. It's hard, it's boring, and it gets old. And to think they have a pretty successful passing game. My hat goes off to the Coach's and the young men that made this season a reality at Lewis County. You gotta Love em',
Ram Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I respect every Lewis County player, coach, and fan. These young men have learned more from football then most players who are on winning teams.
Hit Catch Throw Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 You know football is not just a game its about life lessons and team work, Thing you learn about you self and your teammates. Respect for one another the willing to work together for one common goal. And I truly believe Lewis Co. has done just that, Hats off to the fine young men and next year you will be better for.:ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper:
midee1 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I saw them once this year and I liked what I saw as well. When they were down they still played hard, gave it there all and didn't start fighting among themselves like I have seen some teams do in their situation. Hats off to the Lewis Co football program. I wish you luck in getting it built back up.:thumb:
Jeepman Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 There are many teams out there that are having challenging seasons this year. Lewis County is at the top of the list. I also watched them play one game this year. They had a total of 19 players of which 18 played and one I'm told was a 8th grader who dressed for the game and he worked very hard on the sidlines helping his team. They are without a doubt on the top of another list and that is competative spirit. If my recollection serves me right they came out in their first series and drove the ball down the field to the Russell 6 yard line. The drive ended there but Lewis County never gave up. They played each and every down as if it were the last. Andy Downing, the QB threw passes to Britt and completed 24 that night. Russell put in the reserves and Lewis continued to play with what they had. It was all they had. Life is not always about winning and loosing on the score board. The Lewis county football team is a winner in everyones heart. They never gave up.

I think the no quit attitude displayed by these kids speaks highly of the type of character they have. It is a reflection of their program, kids, parents, current coaches and former coach Corky Prater. With this type of attitude these young men will always be winners.
Raider Pride Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 They play hard and they are fun to watch. If Coach Combs can generate a little more interest and get a few more kids, I believe that they will be very competitive. His players seem to have a lot of respect for him and they never quit. That says more to me than the score of a game.
shamrock fan Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 From all the accounts I have heard or read, these young gentlemen are to be commended for the effort they have put forth this season. :thumb: I know they had a youth program going down through the elementary grades last year; did they do that again this year?

NO high school players on ANY team goes out to lose a football game, no one wants to win more than these kids on the team and the coaches. People dio not realize the work and dedication that the players and coaches put into it only in some cases to have "so called" adults put them down. ALL high school teams/coaches and players deserve respect. :thumb: One thing that I have always told some in my neck of the woods, "if you are going to put them down when they lose.....then don't be coming back around when they are winning."
