  1. Why would Hester want to leave Boyle County, where he is a defensive coordinator, to be an assistant at Garrard?
  2. There was a j.v. team in Lincoln last year and only 3 games were played. The team was apart of a conference with pulaski, south laural, wayne, McCreary, and Madison Southern. Three teams forfeited to the patriots due to not having enough kids to play.
  3. Burger, who would you like to see get the job?
  4. Never played Trinity, but did beat St. X in the playoffs in 2001. X was number 1 in the state at the time going into the playoffs. They ended up getting beat that year by Michael Bush and Chris Barclay's Male team. French did take the 1991 team at Meade to the state finals in 3A but was beat by Bell.
  5. The state does regulate how much each school can pay their coaches, however that doesn't apply to the situation at Lincoln County. French did take a pretty good pay cut to take on the challenge of rebuilding Lincoln's program, so I don't think that he cares too much about his salary, so maybe my analogy might not apply here. If you read all of my previous post you would have seen that French did call the athletic director to notify him of what was discussed with Boyle officials. I assume you know about the chain of command with in school systems since you know about the state regulating coaches pay. But when a coach needs something or something comes up he contacts the athletic director, who then decides who else should be contacted. The athletic director has been made aware of the problems several times, and I know for a fact that he has passed on most of the information. Football isn't the only sport with these problems, 3 years ago the baseball team couldn't find anybody to coach the team at all because of the low pay, and the lack of assistant positions and pay. The offensive coordinator at the time took the job knowing very little about baseball, just because he didn't want to leave the kids in that situation. The next year only one person applied for the position. These things that French is trying to fight for right now, if met will have benefits for all of the sports programs at Lincoln not just football. I think most of Lincoln's fans remember what happpened to their team after their last highly regarded coach left, and I personally hope that, we won't have to see anymore seasons like that. I think most of them realize what French has done to revive this program, and appreciate that. If you know Coach French you would understand that he doesn't think this is French County and he has never been one to toot his own horn. When coaches inquire about a job one of the first questions that they ask is: how supportive is the administration of the program? If there is all this talk on here about the program needing more support from the admin. what do you think that next potential coach is thinking. He will be wondering, if the previous coach couldn't succeed at getting what the program needs how will I? That might scare some of the bigger named coaches. The Lincoln County school system will decide whether French stays or goes, hopefully he stays.
  6. French was quoted in the paper saying "Boyle has expressed an interest in me, and I have expressed an interest in listening. When you get offered a job that pays you more, and that does a lot as an administration to help your program you would be silly not to listen. If you work for Sony and Samsung calls you up willing to pay you around double what you are making would you not consider it? This is a profession just like any other profession. Even though both componies compete against each other I bet you'd be willing to listen to their offer. With that being said if you are happy with your current job you'd go back to your employer and tell him about the situation you have been offered, hoping that maybe they can come close to matching that offer. French has done this, when he was contacted by Campbellsville University with a job offer the 1st person he called was the Athletic Director. The same thing happened in this situation when Boyle contacted him with the possibility, he contacted the Athletic Director again. He loves the support he gets from the community, he loves the people in the community, and he loves his players. So as far as happiness goes he is happy with those aspects, what he isn't happy with is the constant trouble for getting coaches, keeping coaches around, getting coaches in the school system. So as far as fans go he's not trying to slap anybody in the face, he has never and will never do so to anyone. In my opinion some of the administration need to stop sitting on their hands, and evaluate how we can get our support up there with the likes of those schools who have shown as much success as Lincoln has in the recent past. Remember I'm talking about the administration support not the fans. The fans' support has been nothing but fantastic.
  7. I think kids priorities have changed in the last ten years or so. You don't see nearly as many kids playing 3 sports as we used to. Ten years ago you could do so without any problems. However, because of the demand that each sport puts out for the kids during the off season it's very difficult. Priority for the kids at Lincoln before French arrived was put into basketball. Things have started to change getting the likes of keeton, young, and kelly reed out for football in the last two years. Getting kids out to play football isn't a job that relies solely on the head coach, it's a job for the coaching staff as a whole. When coaches only see the kids that come out for football it's difficult, these coaches have their own jobs to go to during the day and we are lucky that thier employers let them out at 3 so they can help us build a program. We have to rely on the kids to try and do most of the recruiting for our own athletes, the quality of kids that we get out is fantastic, but I would wish for that quality in hire volumes.
  8. very true but when it becomes difficult to bring in new coaches to your system because of the lack of pay compared to sorrounding schools, you have a problem. Also lincoln's coaching staff only has two coaches teaching in the high school or even in the school district. The rest of the staff is made up of paraprofessionals. In a lot of cases when a coach with a teachers certification has expressed interest in coming to Lincoln he wasn't being considered for a teaching position. This makes it difficult to recruit the athletes that are in your school to come out and play, and this difficulty can be seen plainly in the numbers that Lincoln has put on the field, usually significantly smaller than the opponents we play.
  9. do the visiting coaches have a room inside the press box or are they outside on top?
  10. Lincoln's QB has already passed the 1,500 mark this season. According to Mr. Tom Hurt's (a legendary stats man in the area) stats before the Pulaski game he was at 1,380 and threw for 150 in the game, giving him 1,530 putting him as the schools leading passers. Congrats to him on a great year so far. Keep it up :thumb:!
  11. Now boys if you're wondering why i'm squinting, it's because I've misplaced my glasses, like most of us do, so in order to be fair I also left my flag in the dressin room and plan to keep my whistle in my front shirt pocket. Promise me you young men won't do anything illegal.
  12. Ok I have figured it a little differently than hector and my calculations are... You get one point for actually defeating the opponent because if team A, B, and C are in a tie breaker, Team A has beaten 3 teams, Team B 2 teams, and Team C 0 (other than the win they had against Team A or B), and all of all the opponents that the three teams (A,B,and C) have beaten none of them have came away with wins. That would make Team C still tied with Team A if no points are awarded for a defeat of an opponent, and that wouldn't make sense so that's why a point is awarded for a defeat of an opponent. South Laural Valley - 7 points with a possibilty of gaining 8 Knox Central - 6 points with a possibilty of 7 North Laural - 1 point with a possibility of 4 Games left: Middlesboro - if they win south gets 6 points with the possibility of 7 if Middlesboro wins their last game. East Jessamine - if south wins they'll get 6 points with a possibility of 7 if south wins out then they have 5 defeats over the teams not involved in the tie breaker. You can only count 4 so they would drop the North Laural victory. South as of right now has 14 points with a possibility of 29 Mercer Russell County - 2 points maybe 4 Greenville, TN - 7 points maybe 9 Boyle County - 3 points maybe 5 Games left: Rockastle - if mercer wins they'll gain 5 points with the possibility of 6 Mercer as of now has 12 points with a possibility of 24 Southwestern Paul Dunbar - 4 points maybe 6 (one of those games is against Trinity) Games left: Boyle county - 3 points maybe 4 GRC - 2 points maybe 3 Southwestern as of now has 4 points with the possibility of 12 As of now South Laural leads the tie breaker by two points, Mercer 2nd with 12 and Southwestern 3rd with 4. If I am correct if Mercer gets beat by Rock then their 12 points would stand, however, even if Southwestern wins out and gains all their possible points they will also have 12 and it would result in the two teams head to head battle which Mercer won, and Southwestern is out of the playoff picture, and I believe that this is the case.
  13. Lincoln went through this last year in the 4A district trying to figure out who they would play the following week. You can count wins for district opponents as long as the district opponents are not involved in the 3 way tie. However, in this case the only district wins these three teams have are all against each other so in this case district wins do not count. You can use the wins against any 4 defeated opponents.
  14. Wouldn't the logical choice for a interim coach be an Assistant, one that is familiar with the play calling and the defense. I'm sure Coach Hamilton is capable of the job, but I would think bringing in somebody not currently on the football staff would create even more confusion for the players.
  15. I recieved information after the Bourbon game that West would be looking for a new coach for next season, however I do not think that it was expected for him to be gone in the middle of the season. This isn't good for the kids, and will be hard for Coach Hamilton to come in and try to keep things going, I wish him the best of luck trying to get the kids to have a positive attitude towards the rest of the season. I wonder how Coach Hamilton will manage to juggle both football and golf. Does anyone know if he has an assistant for golf that will take over most of his duties there, or will one sport have to suffer practice time? Keep us informed.
  16. Mercer will be a force, in any class they happen to play, from here on out. There is a lot of talent in that County, and as long as they get those kids to come out and play they'll have their chances to make runs in the playoffs. A loss for the Titans was inevitable, eventually it was going to happen. The coaching staff will have those kids ready to go Friday night no doubt. It will be interesting to see how PC's high octane offense will stack up to Mercer's D.
  17. Heads it was a completion, tails we rule it incomplete.
  18. Better get to the game early on Friday to find a seat. I suspect that it will be standing room only for the event. Both teams fans have been looking forward to this match-up since the new alignment.
  19. The 3-7 in '04 was actually a gift it was really 2-8 but Lincoln got a win because Danville played an a kid who transferred from Lincoln but was not released. The kid played at the very end of the game of more than one Danville game and it cost Danville a few wins that season.
  20. The record in 2006 was 10-2 not 8-2, the Patriots won 10 games in a row after losing the season opener to PRP. Then lost to GRC on a failed two point conversion in overtime.
  21. It wasn't the same play, similar but not exact, we threw it to two different tight ends in a double tight set. The throw just happened to be in the same spot. Congrats Lincoln players on a great season, and congrats to GRC for staying calm even when we came back from 21-7 to tie it up. Thanks to all the Lincoln fans for the support this year, it was a great ride through the regular season. I just hope we can keep up the school pride and the student support through the rest of the sports season this year.
  22. Meade County Messenger is the hometown newspaper. The News-Enterprise out of Elizabethtown also carries the Greenwaves.
  23. Meade County has also been to the finals before, 1991 3A loss to Bell County, not saying they'll be in it but you never know, they are playin pretty good ball right now. I'd have to say I think any of the 4 teams left on that side of the bracket can make it. My head says it'll probably be a Warren Central or Henderson Vs. Male final, but my heart wants to say Meade can make it. Either way I don't think it'll be much of a final game, but I always like to see those top dogs get knocked off. I do think that the Lexington/Louisville semi-final game is shaping up to be a pretty good one, with Henry Clay having two impressive playoffs wins so far. If they can knock somebody off then this could the first non-Louisville championship since Nelson County defeated Dunbar for the Title back in '96. Correct me if I am here.
  24. was stinnet hurt during the first matchup? This kids a hoss, he's got size, power, and pretty decent speed, if the Greenwaves and get him rollin watchout. Bring back the Greeenwave Nation!!
