  1. he won district his first year there after taking over a 1-9 team. 1 district championship, 1 region runner-up, and a district runner-up in 2 years at Southwestern.
  2. College athletics, and even band have a pecking order. He is a Freshman, so going 1st the week before is an extreme privilege. On top of that I'm assuming the OP is wanting a fair world, he goes first one week, he goes last the next. Seems pretty fair. You seem passionate about this kid, which I think is great, I'm glad that you are involved in her boyfriend's life and know details about what he is doing. Is it important for him to have a social life during football? Yes, it is, but college is meant to be a time for kids to find out who they truly are away from home. If he really wants to be apart of a team then he needs to be spending some of his free time with his teammates outside of football, and going to campus sponsored events. If not, he is going to hate it, I've seen it happen too many times. Long distance relationships are tough and rarely work out, plus Jodie will eventually find out her boyfriend is only in town for a few hours and be there to swoop her up.
  3. I'm gonna go ahead and say that Larry French probably had more wins in his 12 years there then Jaggers did in 4, now he might have had more in a 4 year span then anyone else in the school history. That I don't know.
  4. I believe the penalty on the coaches at the end of the game was the result of them trying to protect the physical well being of a player which was over looked. I believe protecting a kid from in illegal hit to a non-ball carrying member and a potential two months in a wheelchair (he was in a wheelchair last year because of a knee injury) constitutes as something to complain about.
  5. Yes they had a few teams make it to the top 5 in the old 4A alignment, but ran into Michael Bush and Co. of Male. A lot of talent in 4A around those times when you talk about Brohm (UofL and NFL), Bush (UofL and NFL), Woodson (UK and NFL), Barclay (Wake Forest and NFL), a Safety from Owensboro (Clemson and NFL), Powers (IU), Spencer (UofL) and those are just skilled kids off the top of my head. Not all were drafted but the ones listed as NFL did serve on NFL teams.
  6. You gotta look in the long run though and weigh which would be the better option over a 10 year period.
  7. Boyle district policy for school closings is different then Lincoln's. Lincoln's policy stated that no after school activities could take place during a district wide closing. Boyle's states that it is up to the Superintendent whether after school activities can take place during a district wide closing. Coach French has already checked on this scenario and said that the game would not be forfeited.
  8. Sorry my fault it's been a long day at school and thought I saw where someone in a previous discussion said it was three overtimes. I knew it went to OT but didn't do my homework on how many. Regardless it was still a close game, by two evenly matched teams, where the outcome couldn't be resolved in regulation. BTW I am not a voter in the poll, just trying to explain how they work. It doesn't matter to me who is where in the polls right now the only thing that matters is the outcome in December everything else is just wall material.
  9. The BluegrassPreps 4A rankings are voted on by several members of the forum, and members are spread throughout all of the state. Unlike the AP poll where members only generate a list, members of this poll have to justify their rankings to the other voting members. The AP poll does have several voting members who are reliable, however members of BluegrassPreps have pointed out over the years how some voting members of the AP poll have had closed schools receive votes. I have seen the explanation on votes and from what I've understood is that votes are based on if teams went head to head on a neutral site at the time of the voting who do they feel would win. Lexington Catholic and Lone Oak went to three overtimes at Lone Oak my guess is that the voters feel that if this was played on a neutral site maybe Lexington Catholic would have pulled out the victory. P.s. I'm only explaining my understanding of these polls and in no way is it a reflection on which poll I feel is more or less reliable. Nor does it reflect who I think would win in a head to head match between Lexington Catholic and Lone Oak.
  10. I'd have to say Highlands is number 1. I know Cantrall doesn't include out of state games but their win over St. X of Cincy puts them at the top of my list.
  11. French has been the head coach of staffs with 3 coaches nomitaded in this thread: (Brad) Hood, Buchanon, and Smith. Imagine a staff with those four together... I agree, this is a thread that will contain a lot of homer opinions. It is easy to coach talent and numbers, but to get them to play together and have that talent know their role on a team is a difficult task. We could throw in state COY wins in this mix of criteria also. Which I wouldn't know where to even begin to research that (nor do I have the time).
  12. Regular season meetings mean everything especially when it's District 1 and 2 seedings on the line.
  13. Sandbagger:laugh: you're singing a new tune from the first couple threads. I'll give you credit though you stuck with it longer than I thought you would:thumb:
  14. French already has a pretty impressive win count. Not close to 300 by any means but this season did put him in the top 15 all time wins by Kentucky coaches. 218 is impressive and that number will continue to grow at a rapid pace now that he has landed at Boyle.
  15. I don't think any freshman have played a role in the win or loss of any game this year. That won't matter in this game either.
  16. Super had a mathematical error they gained a total of 185 not 285. 69 rushing and 116 passing for a total of 185 yards for Franklin.
  17. Coach Roe and his jv offense can flat out put up points!
  18. Not too sure on the numbers they had in middle school but they do have one or two real nice athletes coming up. The 8th grade team didn't make their playoffs, I'm not sure how the 7th grade team ended up.
  19. If you really want to blame the season on that go ahead. IMO Lincoln's season was just bad luck with injuries. When a senior gets injured and you have to replace him with a freshman or a soph., it's never good. PATS work hard in the offseason and get back on top!
  20. Great W for the Greenwaves. My understanding is that Meade has a some great young kids that have had some impressive wins at the Freshmen level hopefully they will build off of this win and take that effort into the playoffs with them. Go WAVES!
  21. This season is the result of bad luck, several times this season they had to play with 5 or more returning upper classmen injured, and had to play the entire season without their top linemen in Tre Owsley due to an injury. They also had their leading rusher from the previous year get kicked off the team due to some offseason reasons.
  22. It is true that Lincoln didn't play a freshmen schedule they didn't have enough freshmen come out to have a frosh team. It is not true that Lincoln cancelled the JV season, they played in 4 or 5 JV games but had 4 games inside their JV conference cancel games against them. Not much you can do on a days notice to pick up games.
