charlesw88 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 This is from the Lexington Herald-Leader. The top 5 is right, IMO. I think Henry Clay can be a little bit higher. cooperjags Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) How is Trinity #2? And how is Henry Clay #12, far under SK? Edited October 7, 2009 by Ram Rule 13
King of Kentucky Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 How is Trinity #2? And how is Henry Clay #12, far under SK? It is a pretty dumb idea to rank the entire state outside of classifications, but if you had to do it - this is not a horrible list. However, Henry Clay at #12 is pretty bad, especially since I have the Blue Devils No. 2 in 6A. I don't understand why everyone is ranking CovCath.
Bluesport Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Wow Highlands would beat Trinity by 40 points, and St. X probably by 20. I do like 7 out of the 25 teams being from Northern KY though.

Woah, woah, woah! I go back on what I said. I clearly was not paying attention. You're right! For some reason I said the top 5 is right. Highlands is clearly #1 with St. X #2. If you had to do the top 5, how would it look? This can go for everyone...
hoosierbirdfan Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 How is Trinity #2? And how is Henry Clay #12, far under SK? Even my dog knows Highlands is #1 in the state.(THIS YEAR!!) Lou. St.X should be #2.
UK fball fan Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Highlands should be ranked #1, but, if they played St X heads up, I'd pick the Tigers. I just think they're a deeper, more talented team, regardless of the outcomes of the Cinci St X games..Sometimes theres just a different mindset from game to game and I think Cinci St X was really pumped for Lou St X and I think they played very flat against Highlands, possibly because of the Elder game the following week or from being emotionally spent from the 2-3 wks prior...Thats not a knock on Highlands, just an opinion..

Channel 9 reports that Highlands is ranked#9 in the USA poll and #4 in the maxpreps poll. (Congrats Birds, just keep on winning!) :ylsuper:
Watusi Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Does Cantrall's system take out of state games into account? I know the Lit doesn't.
westsider Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Does Cantrall's system take out of state games into account? I know the Lit doesn't.Cantrall does not ... the only ones that do are the Massey and MaxPreps ratings, which go nationwide.
Ram Fan04 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Highlands is ranked nationally how does someone not put them number one?
Watusi Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Highlands is ranked nationally how does someone not put them number one? Check out the two posts above yours. It is a computer ranking, it isn't subjective to human thought or intervention. It just crunches numbers and spits out rankings based on a formula. The key point is this system does NOT take into account any out of state games. Therefore, it doesn't penalize Trinity or St X for a loss to Cincy St X, nor does it reward Highlands for defeating them.
