So based on this Highlands and Christian County’s wins meant nothing?

Wow Highlands would beat Trinity by 40 points, and St. X probably by 20.

 

I do like 7 out of the 25 teams being from Northern KY though.

 

So then do you think Ryle should be #3 or #4? Highlands didn't beat Ryle by 40. (Maybe next time) Also Henry Clay way tooooooo low. Wasn't it just a couple weeks ago they went into S.K. And beat them soundly?? :idunno:

Does anyone know if running up the score in the 2nd half of a blowout improves a team's points in the computer rankings? Does anyone have a good handle of exactly what is being measured? It must be more than who has beaten who, but really how does it differentiate a team that rolls up a 42-0 halftime scored and then puts in their JV and ends the game at 49-14 or some scenario like that, vs a team that runs up 28-0 at half and keep starters in there until that last set of downs after running it up to 56-0?

I have heard that Litkenhous and Cantrall take margin of victory into account, but I have no idea if this is correct or not. Perhaps JasonFrakes2 can shed some light on what parameters Litkenhous considers.

Highlands should be #1 without question. Also, Owensboro is still ranked ahead of Christian County when County beat them last week. County's two losses are two Bowling Green and Franklin, TN (5A runner-up last year). They should be ranked a little higher IMO.

The ratings also take into account these two scores:

 

Bowling Green 22, Christian County 3

Bowling Green 26, Owensboro 21

 

Every game counts equally, and there is good reason to rate Owensboro above Christian County, even after the close loss to the Colonels.

 

HIghlands' big win over Cincinnati St. Xavier doesn't factor into those ratings because the ratings use only games against in-state competition.

Highlands senior class has more D1 talent than it ever had before in one class.Being a D1 athlete (IMO) means you have the size and speed to play at the next level.Whats special about this Highlands team is that they have team talent at all positions.Look what Cam Dierig did against the big boy from St.X,how many tackles for loss did Justin Johnson have? How many tackles did Ty Siedel have?Travis Alford had a great game ,as did Austin Abner got a pick.We all know Bardo,Roller and Collinsworth. This team has talent coming out their ears!!! I don't care what the polls say,no team in Ky. has more talent than the Birds. I'm not saying they can't be beat,Im just saying they have more talent!! Then we play Dixie and score 51 points with a sophomore QB,only his first start on the varsity team.

You missed my point completely. I was just trying to point out that there is plenty of talent on this team D1 or not,it doesn't matter.They are GOOD!!!

So having 3-4 division 1 players on one squad, along with a host of other very good players AND they play well as a team does not make them the best team in the State of Ky. Man, I would like to see a better team in this state....They would be better than UK or UL. Your a tough hombre to impress.:lol:

I have seen all three of these teams play and this is obviously a wrong statement.

 

St. Xavier might even beat Highlands - they are extremely talented this season. Personally, I would take St. X's overall talent over Highlands. However, this year's Fort Thomas bunch is special and plays with a lot of pride.

 

Trinity, also wouldn't lose by 40. I would think Highlands would win, but by 40? Now you are just being silly.

I believe HHS just beat Cincy St. X a couple weeks ago, and everyone there knows the game was not as close as the score would indicate. It only serves as a possibilty that HHS could feasibly beat Trinity by 40 or more IF they played. You can't compare scores. That is where it gets silly. Trinity didn't play its starting quarterback at all against Elder and rushed him back against Cincy St. X. I was at the Highlands game - and I thought it was that close. Sure the Bluebirds had a lot of turnovers in the redzone, but Cincy St. X also made a lot of mistakes. The Bombers also didn't play their star running back in the second half and ran a screen pass on every down.

 

I don't want to take away anything from Highlands. They played the game of their lives and Cincy St. X did not. You could play that game more than 1,000 times and never get the same result. Not saying Highlands would lose them all or win them all.

 

Once you see a team (let's say Lafayette) beat another (let's say Henry Clay) doesn't mean that they are better than every team that they have played (Lafayette beats Henry Clay, but losses to Boone County - Henry Clay losses Lafayette, but beats Simon Kenton - Boone County beats Lafayette, but losses to Conner 42-12 - Conner beats Boone County, but losses to Simon Kenton 56-14). - Do you follow? Anything can happen in high school football.

 

If you say that Cincy St. X beating a banged up Trinity team at home means that Highlands will automatically beat the Shamrocks by more points, than that it is silly.

 

I still think Highlands would beat Trinity, however I would love to see a Highlands/Louisville St. X matchup. Granted it would only be fair if Will Bardo could play...because then there will be another debate.

I think Highlands has gotten a little better since the first game. I'm not to sure how much better T has gotten with the amount injury's and finding the right player's who fit their game plan?

I think Ryle would beat Trinity this year...:scared:
