  1. Miller rushed for 108 1TD Calhoun 86 yrds 1TD Rogers 74 yards rushing 1 passing TD to Young for about 50 give or take a few yards Edwards 38 (backup QB) Lincoln had 315 rushing yards tonight you wouldn't have thought it by watching the game but the yards were a little more dispersed, Lincoln had two possesions in the second half in which they held the ball for 20 minutes not scoring on either drive.
  2. Lincoln has to win the game this week before they ever think about who they play in round 3. I think a lot of Lincoln's fans are looking further then they need to, it's been awhile since they've been in this situation but when the playoffs come you gotta take things one week at a time. If any Lincoln players are looking at this thread they should devert their eyes otherwise. They know themselve they have to play their season one week at a time.
  3. That's probably the best idea I've heard about reducing the playoffs. I like the 4 teams making it in the 4A system. The 6A system I kinda like this idea, the only problem I have with it and I think the KHSAA would have the same problem is the traveling issue, if you have more then 3 at large teams coming form the same area such as Louisville or Lexington then one of those teams would have to travel a long way for each game during the playoffs. The traveling expenses will become a hassel for the school. I know my school hates to spend money on traveling or to even spend money period. It would just be one of those things they'd have to suck up and open those deep pockets they have. Another thing that would probably have to be considered in this would be maybe having an open week between the last game regular season game and the playoffs because I know it would take awhile in order to draw up brackets and calculate the points for each team in deciding who's in and who's out. If you don't have the open week then you probably wouldn't figure out who you play until sometime later on Sunday then you'd still have to go and trade films and do the things you normally do Saturday morning. This would put you behind two days already in preparing for your next game. So all in all I really wouldn't mind this system if the bye week came at the end of the regular season.
  4. I personally like the 4 team system, although I could still contend that the football season does go on forever. I was a quarterback (before Blake Powers, Indiana University came along) and a reciever, and I hated throwin/catching in the cold weather. Call me a baby whatever you like just happened to be my preference to be playing in warm weather. However if it was just the top two teams making the playoffs out of the district then my senior year 2001 at Meade County we wouldn't have made the playoffs at 9-1 due to the tie breaker (three way tie for first) and we wouldn't have knocked off St. X in the 1st round of the playoffs. The whole playoff picture could have been changed with X and Male in the region finals and maybe X would have made it to the state instead of Bush and company. Although there might be some blowouts in the 1st round like there always is there will also be upsets some larger than others which makes the playoffs more exciting. Taking out some sleeper teams and teams that very well deserve to make the playoffs would be like shortening down March Madness in college basketball and not letting some of those potential Cinderella teams not make the field of 65 (which in this case the field would be more like 32 or 16). A lot of teams such as Boyle County (5-5) have played very tough non-district schedules which do not indicate how well they can preform in thier own district (4-1). I know Boyle is a 2 seed I'm just commenting about the overall record. Also a team like Montgomery County who is also 5-5 has big potential to make a run in the playoffs as a three seed. They turned it on in the district when they needed to, and are playing right now like a team that should be 8-2. We would also be eliminating Manuel and PRP from the playoffs who have just as much potential to knock off either of St. X and Male year in and year out when playoffs come even if they don't beat them in the regular season. I do agree with you that a team with only 3 or 4 wins on their schedule shouldn't make the playoffs but I think that overall it's better to let team in with three or 4 wins then to cut a team with 7, 8, or 9 wins, and I think it is good for high school football if the ball bounces the right way for a 3 or 4 seed and they are able to knock off a 1 or 2 seed. It does a lot for their community and for the school. Please keep the comments about me being crazy to yourself about the reference to March Madness I know it's far fetched but it was the closest example I could come up with. :sssh:
  5. Mr. Network you are a information genius
  6. The General is correct, I've been trying to figure it out all night, sorry for the confusion I couldn't figure out the adobe acrobat it's in two columns and I figured it would run down in the same column to the next page but it flows back up to the top of the same page. Somewhere in college I must have skipped the class that taught you how to read adobe. For future reference here is a link to the tournament rules, and on page 65 it explains the tie breaker procedures. http://www.khsaa.org/handbook/tournamentrules/fbtournamentrules.pdf
  7. alright here is the deal I looked up the tie breaker procedures and it said that you can use any of your defeated opponents records (did not specify non-district and district) as long as it isn't any of the three teams tied with each other. In that case the teams could use South Laural, Whitley or North Laural. Which North and South both have 3 wins and according to this on the KHSAA website they could count both those two who have more wins then their non-district opponents. The explaination is cut off and I can't find the KHSAA handbook to look it up, if anybody can do that for me that would be great.
  8. our staff at Lincoln is not experts on this but we all seem to think that you get a point for a non-district win, however we aren't 100% on that. If you don't then it will go to head to head which Montgomery will win.
  9. I know there will be questions about who plays who and who got what seed, so I did the Math and if I am correct here are the standings. #1. Lincoln 9-1 (6-0 district) #2. GRC 6-4 (4-2 district) (6 points) #3. Madison Central 6-4 (4-2 district) (4 points) #4. Montgomery County 5-5 (4-2 district) (3 points) That is assuming you get points for beating a non district team, Madison Central beat two (Bryan Station 1-9 and West Jessamine 1-9) non-district where Montgomery only beat one (Rowan 2-8) non-district.
  10. Montgomery plays Rowan this friday if i'm not mistaken for their final non-district game, and since they haven't won any non-district games yet they need this one to earn some points (not sure how many points they will earn though)
  11. no we're used to playing on poor field conditions we have a water pipe under the bleachers that leaks out onto the field so even on a week where it hasn't rained there for about 40 yards or so on the home side closest to the scoreboard it's always poor. Plus it has been a rainy season so just about every week we've played on a wet field. Montgomery will finish 4th no matter what unless Rowan County has around 9 or 10 wins, they are 0-3 for non-district play. If Lincoln wins then Madison Central, Montgomery, and GRC will all have 2 losses. If Central wins then it will be: 1. Madison Central 1 loss 2. Lincoln 1 loss 3. GRC (beat Montgomery) 2 losses 4. Montgomery 2 losses
  12. wow! I'm still tryin to pick my jaw up from the ground on this one, I thought Frankfort was a good team but didn't know they could put up that many points on Danville.
  13. What's Meade's record this year and how are the playoffs shaping up for them. I'm a alum from the greenwave nation with 2001 being my senior year. I haven't really had the time to keep up with them that much this year, but I always love to see them beat Nelson.
  14. Lincoln turn the ball over an awful lot tonight they had a pitch intercepted on Montgomery's 5 yard line right before the half on a 1st down play. Had an interception on their own 30 returned inside the 15 yardline that lead to Montgomery's 2nd touchdown, and had a fumbled pitch inside their territory get returned to the 1 which led to a Montgomery touchdown. They had two more turnovers in their own territoy which the defense had to step up and make some big stops. It was a hard hitting game, 85 for the Indians played extremely well, I don't think we blocked him the whole game. It wasn't until the 4th quarter when lincoln started to pull away, Montgomery actually took the lead 22-21 with about 8 or 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter when they returned a lincoln fumble back to the 1. I think depth played a huge roll in Lincoln's ability to pull away late, the Indians had a lot of players going both ways where Lincoln is able to play different players on both sides of the ball. Good game by both teams and congrats to Montgomery on the turn around season, they have a lot to look forward to going into the playoffs, they are still a very dangerous team.
  15. EKU since coach hope got there doesn't do too much recruiting from kentucky, they like the states of Florida and Georgia.
  16. Right now the standings of the top three are: 1.) Lincoln (4-0) in district 2.) Montgomery (3-1) Beat Central so tie breaker goes to them for now 3.) Madison Central (3-1) lost to Montgomery Lincoln has Montgomery next then Madison Central Montgomery has Lincoln next and not sure who the last game Madison Central has North Laural then Lincoln Lincoln definatly has the hardest road to go in the next two weeks, but things could get pretty crazy. When the playoffs start we'll either have teams playing in back to back weeks or twice in three weeks. Should make for some interesting discussions at the end of the regular season.
  17. Calhoun ended up with 168 rushing, a 47 yard interception return for a touchdown and a 50 plus touchdown reception. Braxton Miller had 98 rushing and one touchdown.
  18. Neither Calhoun nor Miller run track for Lincoln. Unless they decide they want to for their senior year. They've always been in the weight room hitting it hard in the spring. It would be fun to watch them run against each other, and I'm sure Miller and Calhoun would love to see who was faster amongst themselves. A couple years ago the track team and the football team were both doing workouts on the track, and Coach French threw together two 4X100 teams, just for fun and see what they could do against Lincolns track team. One team had Miller and Calhoun the other Rogers and one of the Reeds, both teams beat the track team. But back to the subject I think all three teams (Lincoln, Danville, and Mercer) are pretty evenly matched with ability and coaching. On any given day any of these teams could beat the other, but atleast this topic of who's number 1an expand to three unlike the past. That's speaking a lot of the area, maybe title town can expand it's boundries a little this year (hopefully in two directions).
  19. I read the post to dad and he knew exactly who it was, I think he enjoys telling that story on you. I got to hear him say stuff like that to me since I was about 5 years old and playing tee ball. I've gone through many of practices of when he kicked off the whole team off the field, and when I think a lot of teams would have been happy to be done with practice early, we would sit in our lockers scared to death about what would happen next. The best thing was senior year at Meade when I intercepted a slant route and 40+ yards and got caught from behind on the 2, I came to the sideline mad, he found me, looked at me and said "I wouldn't have got caught", and here he was turning 50 the next day.
  20. We're trying to figure out when Coach French of Lincoln County will get his 200th win. He said before the season he needed three wins, however after we got these three he said he thought it was three more, so none of us are really sure. I've found his records from 1990 on and my total is 105. What I need is for somebody to help me out and tell me where I might be able to find these records, I went to the KHSAA website and found from '90 on so I need the '89 Meade County record, and his record while at Mercer. I appreciate the help.
  21. the Lincoln/North game will be a good game, North always to play extremely well at home, if everybody remembers they knocked off the district champs (Madison Central) last year at North. Anytime North plays at home it's going to be tough game. Montgomery has definatly been a surprise team this year. I was pretty impressed with thier offense in seeing them on film, they have a tough QB who impressed me a lot.
  22. Braxton Miller rushed for 208 yards and 4 scores. GRC is still a big threat to do some damage in the playoffs, and I wouldn't be surprised to see these two teams meet again, probably in the second round.
  23. Braxton Miller Lincoln County, Sr. fullback 6'2" 190. With 9:30 left in the 3rd quarter Miller had 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. Miller only played in two games last season because of a dislocated elbow. He has stepped up big for the patriots this season and has already rushed somewhere between 700 and 800 5 games into the season, 2 200 plus performances and over 100 in every game except PRP.
