  1. Whew! Just read through the thread after getting back in town from work road trip. Got word from couple fella BGP'ers to check it out asap. Very interesting to say the least. I do notice that there are very few "old timers" on here posting. They may be reading, but not posting. That imo, speaks volumes. I take that as they are just over it already. I think they see that its going to stay status quo! So why bother. I remember going to BW's introduction as head coach. And I can tell you each and every BGP member that I know that gives a hoot about Highlands was there in support of him. It was a special night for him. From there, he had total support of the community. 6 seasons later, that support has waned a bit. Quite a bit actually. And why is that such a big deal to people. Are supporters not allowed to change their minds on someone as their leader or coach. Sometimes it's just time to go. It's not that BW isn't a great defensive mind, he is and I think it definitely showed when he was 100% in that role in years past. Imo, he just doesn't fit the head coaching role. And that's fine. Isn't it? I mean what am I missing. Some people aren't made to be "that" coach. Some are. There's nothing wrong with that. If it's me and I am in that position, I think I would have to make a change. Maybe not but would have to think long and hard about it. Especially when I don't have the support needed to be in that position. But maybe he has thought about it and feels he can turn the program around. And yes, it does need turning around. Several players have left or decided to not play football over the past 4/5 years all due to comments from coaches, atmosphere around program, and essentially looking to play on a team that they feel has a chance to win whether at Highlands or at another school. Highlands lost 2 stud Qb's because of this. Ok, maybe just 2 Qb's, but those two themselves could have allowed 2 others that played QB to play other positions that would have helped the team. Add in a few more "other" sport stars, and you have a recipe for scrambling to find high quality players to replace them. And yes, that goes with the argument that the talent just isn't there. That logic would be correct if it wasn't for the reasons that these kids left the program. That falls on the coaching staff not being able to retain their players. I think a lot has been covered in this thread so far. There are people on here with info that just won't be shared. They didn't start the thread, just giving some insight as much as they can. A lot can not be shared on here. That's where being on the outside is frustrating and you just don't get it. My narcissism is kicking in!!! #makethechange
  2. Good luck to the BIRDS and to #63 Johnny "Big Country" Abner. The kid was challenged by his uncles at Thanksgiving last week and they offered payments in exchange for sacks. Big John had a 1/2 sack against LexCath so he got a half of box of doughnuts. Look for him and the other Bigs to have a Big game against Owensboro
  3. Yes he is good but is it fair? You do know his daddy is an ESPN analyst and this gives Beau an unfair advantage should not be allowed, and as Sweeperboy would say it Just Sayin
  4. This, Birds has their reasons in 2014 Extremely proud of these guys especially my nephew the Cowboy
  5. Actually, JB as much as I agree with most of your post, I do not agree with the bolded. They are not a very good football team according to my sources but they can build and keep working harder and good things will happen
  6. I come and go from time to time and this Sweeperboy kid is starting to remind me of that other 8yr old from Indy, pls make it stop Wasn't at the game tonight but I heard the Bluebirds were really on their game this evening. Congrats to the Birds on a nice victory and I wish certain posters would try and stay classy.:isurrender:
  7. Because I needed an alyaisis and I tried to be sneaky so I added a second account and settled on the obvious, TFVH
  8. First, let me say welcome back to BGP Sweep, I hope you are well rested and have reset the mechanisms and got things worked out during the off season. As you mentioned the biggest change of spring ball so far is Bo Hebel moving from DL to OL. That kid is big big, something like 6'-2 315lb.
  9. Iam beginning to wonder if Warner didn't play Colerain on purpose. LOL He could have easily just kept the two game deal with HHS and maybe even competed but to drop HHS and go get bull dozed by Colerain 2 straight yrs made zero sense imo. It makes a person wonder if he didnt already know his fate 2 yrs ago.
  10. Thank godness Highlands is not playing a measly 6A school from Florida. Obviously they are stepping up to play the biggest in Fl 8 Classes "watered down" ? I call it a 100 yr flood, absolutely, but as long as you schedule and play the largest in each state who really cares. So I guess an 8A school in Fl is equivilant to an 6A school in KY.
  11. Coach Baioni has implemented a very nice transition plan for HHS baseball and it is all finally coming together. Each yr he has been taking baby steps and has grown the program as a whole, he has had some bad luck and some good luck along the way. The days of 18 yr old young men beating up on 13 and 14 yr old kids are over, the game is even now and the Dirty Birds have arrived.
  12. 3 months into 2014 campaign and by far the favorite for BGP "Post of the Year", LOL
  13. They have, I know this for a fact. My nephew played a CBS game back in 2009 against Cinti St X and the amount of exposure he received and the other kids received from colleges after that game was incredible. Now that 2009 team was pretty special and most of the kids would have been found and were already found but it certainly didn't hurt. Plus when most of these games are televised nationally they usually do a very well documented segment on each schools locations and academic achievements and that is where it is all at imo. And sadly yes, it is all about money even at the HS level. Example, recent KY hs buyouts.
  14. Gotcha. Basketball seems to be holding all the cards at the moment for a few sports to begin. Patience is a virtue
  15. If SK had just 10 posters as enthusiastic as Ukfan this thread would be on page 9 This is why his posting in HHS threads always makes for the 10+ pagers, he is like one of us now, he has sipped the Blue Koolaid
  16. No problems here, the big fuss is posters saying that HHS can't use the term "stepping up" when referring to teams that enroll 4 times as many boys than HHS enrolls and just because they are a big 8A school from FL doesn't make them any better than KY teams let alone teams from NKY. I don't know, this whole thing has my head spinning. I don't know if I want to be in the game anymore or just be TFVH. Doctors are saying to just be myself and forget about the double personality stuff. They are saying the medicine takes about 2 wks before it really starts working.
  17. Before all the media, social/internet, etc, both schools were winning and piling up State Championships as their records suggest. Back in the day when newspapers and local news broadcasts were the only method of following a team they both were always hitting the headlines locally and again it was because of winning. Before mainstream media they built their programs gradually but since the new age they have both taken their programs to another level and have done it quickly because of live tv games etc which now can be viewed nationally not just locally. It has resulted in hundreds of college scholarships, coaches being named national coaches of the yr and just recently as we all know Trinity claimed a National Championship to its record. Unofortunately it will be very difficult for other teams from the bluegrass not named Trinity, HHS, St X, Bowling Green and a handful of others to garner the attention that these teams have accomplished simply because of how long it has taken them to build their presence in KY. But with the emergence of Trinity and HHS on the national scene it certainly helps the bluegrass state as a whole and will open doors for the other programs to follow if they choose to do so. Nothing is keeping teams in KY big or small from reaching out to neighboring states for games whether it is for logistic reasons, financial reasons or to try and exploit their programs and garner national attention.
