8A?

Featured Replies

Personally I'm not sure it's a good idea for a KY team to bring in an 8A team from another state to play. I don't want to give the KHSAA any more ideas about classification expansion.:stop::isurrender:;)

Harry is correct...and I'm being somewhat "tongue in cheek" sarcastic about the 6A system KY has.

Could not of been said any better! I do not think we are going back to 4 classes, but I would like to see the first round of the playoffs eliminated. That's not going to happen either. I know it is about participation, don't forget to give everybody juice boxes and carrots afterwards.

Maybe every team in the state should just have a partner school and they can play in a winner teakes all "state champtionship" :D

Now now pete...don't get on the mean green machine's naughty list.:stop:

I agree with eliminating the first round of playoffs for 6 classes and keeping 6 classes because football is such a numbers game. The negative is scheduling because of the small districts.

Four classes would help scheduling and then I would be for taking the top four from each district. But, the size difference between the smallest and largest would be bigger in each class.

Of the two, my preference is 6 because I believe it is more fair.

Thank godness Highlands is not playing a measly 6A school from Florida. Obviously they are stepping up to play the biggest in Fl

8 Classes "watered down" ? I call it a 100 yr flood, absolutely, but as long as you schedule and play the largest in each state who really cares.

So I guess an 8A school in Fl is equivilant to an 6A school in KY.

You keep talking about and giving kudos to Highlands for "Stepping up" and playing a 8A team even though in reality it doesn't matter if the team is an 8A team or a 1A team. A good team is a good team and a bad team is a bad team. If playing up was all that mattered then what would you of thought about HHS playing Boone last year? Boone is a 6A school, does that make Boone a great team?

Some would say not even NKY.....

Lets face it, there aren't too many teams in the state of Ky that could pull off bringing in not One but Two teams from Florida in back to back years. I personally think it speaks volumes for your program. I could name maybe 3-4 in the State of Ky that could do it.("0" from NKY) Whether it is a 8A school or 1A school, it really doesn't matter who it is, as long as both schools are okay with maybe only having a 1 year deal. I know for a fact that If Ryle "Steps up" and puts the Birds back on their schedule like I'm anticipating, then Highlands will break a contract with CC if there is one. I can hear it now, Highlands is running scared from the Florida schools....LOL! I do however, would like to look at CC's College Signee's this time next year and see where kids are going. As bad as University Christian was perceived to be, they had 11 kids sign to play at the next level. Mind you that this is a team from Florida... Not bad for a "Mediocre" team from Florida that some people say were horrible. I'm just glad we got UC in the 1st game of the year and not week 5-6. By far the most Athletic team that Highlands has faced in some time.

Maybe it's me, but really who cares that anyone is playing any team from Fla?

Who cares? seriously. You act as if this is incredible or something. Who really cares? What does it get you? In the end it gets you nothing. No one really cares. Do you think there are people in California talking about a team in Kentucky that is playing a team in Florida? No.

Who cares? It isn't making you better, you are going to be as good as you're going to be period whether you play a team from Florida, TN or North Dakota.

Please get over yourselves for playing a team from Florida. Who cares? Seems the only ones really think this is something special are those from HHS. In the end it doesn't get you anything toward winning a state title than any other school in the state.
