Yes, Birds are on the right track. Yes, good competition, not great completion. But it for sure beats the alternative. Birds fans have at least that to celebrate. There is definitely a different vibe going on right now. Let’s hope the Birds can keep it going. Speed bumps can happen along the way and if one does, let’s keep an eye on the prize!

Well, Noon was noticeably absent. There were several players on the sideline that weren't dressed due to a number of reasons. I spoke with one parent whose kid was sidelined and he said he will be back this week. So can I gather from your comment that those that are sidelined aren't in the mix on Friday nights? Just curious because I observed several not dressed that's all.

My understanding is Highlands will be traveling as a "team" to Hoover Alabama this summer for some 7v7 competition. I'm guessing that there will be more D1 talent there than NKY has seen last few years together. These parents and kids you speak of, need to get on board or maybe look elsewhere. And it sounds as if they have from an earlier post. Good luck to them with their new teams.

From reading all the post, the majority are more in favor of or prefer their kids or kids in general participate in the sport of season for their own team than go and play with other kids. I’ll be honest with you, I’m old school and I liked when FTJFL kept to themselves and kept everything in house. Of course they were able to because of numbers and I understand that times change and you have to expand out to survive or at the very least give the kids an opportunity to play. But when at all possible, you keep everything close to the vest and let others keep guessing what you are doing. Highlands hasn’t gotten to where they are without a lot of sacrificing from coaches, players, and families. I’m guessing from the past 6/7 years success, the new regime thought a new direction was needed. As did the administration. That’s why we are where we are. Parents and players not ready to make the commitment to be a State Champion. To each his own. Maybe look into how some former players went about their commitment to get to the highest level which led to success. Guarantee it was doing it as a team! Just sayin! Go Birds and 1march. #allin. Lol why would “impactful kids” be quitting? Practice too hard, practice too long? Being asked to commit to program? Too early for practice? Schedule too demanding? Cant get along with others? Maybe just a hangover from previous regime. Don’t like what’s being asked of them I’m guessing. Well I guess someone just got an opportunity to try and fill another kids shoes.

Oh, we all know CCH will be loaded next year. That's why most people are saying Birds may keep it close this year but in the years to come, its going to be a coin flip. CCH isn't changing their ways, but Highlands is.

Someone mentioned the Benke kid at TE. I understand he is tall and has great hands and athletic. If Noon is QB, will we continue to see quality talented kids stand on sidelines because they are a back up to a position or get on the field? I'm guessing Coach Sphire will have all kids that can contribute immediately playing. Maybe Benke gets the QB position and Noon becomes a play maker somewhere. Who knows. A lot to sort out for new coach.

Just like that, the “golden rule” is broken. Lol! Agree with the other poster as to there will be parents upset with the new Coach! There are going to have to be position changes that are best for not only the player but the team. And that is what comes first if you want to reach the top. That’s exactly what happened when “the run of championships” started. Kids sacrificed for the team. I am confident these kids will do the same and hopefully their parents accept it.
