I don't think he was tearing anybody down, I think he was building his guy up.

No problem with it at all. I think he is trying to get his QB some props more so than tearing down the HHS QB.

Nothing wrong with it. I imagine size is an issue with him getting D1 offers but he sure can play.

Johnny is old enough in this game to understand that stats do not equal scholarships. Riley is a better hs Qb than Hergott. But that has nothing to do with scholarships and he knows it.

He has NO offers from anybody???? I find that hard to believe. I'm not talkin Alabama. I'm talking Centre, Cumberland, University of the South, etc. Or does he even want to play college ball?

It's hard as a coach not to defend your kids to a fault sometimes. I believe the kid should have offers but I don't know I say anything about the other guy having them although sometimes we hurt for the kid and say things we should've thought longer before posting or saying. With that said#GUILTYMYSELF

Agreed.

Did he lie?

Does that matter as to the question being asked?

I want to start off by saying I have exchanged some email with Coach Hines and I have nothing but positive things to say about him.

However, if I was the Coach at Pulaski County I would be building a program to beat two teams: Bowling Green and Highlands. And with that in mind I would pay attention to everything that happens with both those football programs. Furthermore, if I was paying close attention to everything that was going on at Highlands (and I had watched every film of Highlands leading up to my game with them) I would know that the above quote surely could be interpreted as me taking a swipe at Hergott. Just sayin' Coach.

I agree. He reminded me of Travis Atwell. Not quite as fast, but still very athletic and a similar build.

First, he was correct. I don't see this as critical of Hergott, but rather promoting his own player. However scholarship offers factor in lots of things, and while sometimes unfair, that is how recruiting works.

We had this discussion at work today and I think Hall could be a star in NAIA. In the right situation he could probably be very successful in I-AA. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I personally don't find fault in it except for the fact he mentioned the other kid by name.

All he had to say was "I have seen a lot of kids with D-1 Offers play Quarterback in this State and he is as good as any of them" or even "Hall was the best player on the field and hopefully D-1 coaches could see it"

Specifically calling Hergott out by name after they just ended his career was a bit unnecessary.

I think his intentions were pure..but sometimes it is always best to keep things generalized especially when the media is around

And for the record though.. he is right... Hall is the best QB in Kentucky and my vote for Mr. Football if I had one and I could see him being an excellent player even at the FCS level or at the Division II level.
