After reading this thread, I spoke directly with Coach Hines. He did not realize that some would take his quote as an insult. He truly meant no ill will or bashing of the Highlands QB. Since he does not read or post on message, he ask if I would post on his behalf and say he apologizes if he offended anyone. It was not his intention to down anyone but to say his QB is up there with those who are getting D-1 looks. He understands the tale-of-the-tape. He understands that Riley doesn't have the measurables. But he has try continue to sell this young man. That what he said he meant by that.

If coach really wanted to promote his kid, then maybe Pulaski should win the State Championship first, then Tweet out how great his QB is after hoisting the trophy.

 

No issue with what he said, but look at the controversy it created the week of State.

 

I call to question the timing, albeit it was on the heels of a semi final win. Focus is in the wrong place with the invididual this week...should be a team focus week.

 

I did see some jackets from the Pulaski crowd at this game where they listed themselves as Semi State Champions last year...agreed they won, but do teams actually consider the semi final something you would embroider on a jacket as a "championship" ?

Not all of have a 100 years of tradition. Pulaski only has been around in football for 32 years. So I think celebrating and commemorating big wins is absolutely fine. I think by you even saying that kind of an arrogant thing to say.

I can understand being emotional after a big loss, but that is little petty.

I have watched PC play at Highlands twice and left both times thinking that Highlands fans were nothing but class. I would like to continue thinking that way.

So, the quote is accurate but the coach just doesn't want it interpreted as "our QB is better than yours who got a D1 offer." But, that's what he said.

Riley Hall could play at EKU or an OVC school. I think if given a little time he could be a solid QB in the MAC...so Coach Hines' comment aren't out of bounds at all.

It can be interpreted both ways. I see it as he was building his kid up. I am sure that it is probably a 50/50 split on how people interpret his intent. I don't see him saying anything wrong.

First of all, HHS is not the only program I have been around and I have rarely seen a "Semi-State Champion" patch anywhere...it's an observation, no arrogance intended.

 

Secondly, I have no emotion about a big loss or a big win for HHS. I don't have a dog in the fight any longer. I see the game where it is at the moment it is played.

 

Thirdly, if you think that my comments represent arrogance and any other HHS fan you need to reset your perspective. I have a number of acquantainces that are HHS fans, but also a number that are any number of any other schools and sports in multiple regions.

 

It was just a curious observation and something I have not seen before....Good Luck to Pulaski. They played a solid game against HHS and the better team is in the finals, I wish them and their fans all the fun that comes with being at WKU for the Big Game.

Regarding to Hall it all comes down to coaches at all levels and all sports they want to use the cookie cutter approach. If they dont fit the so called specs to what a QB or whatever position it is, they miss out on a lot of kids. No doubt he can play at the next level its just who is going to give him a chance.
