John Hardin vs Iroquois (Take 2) Playoff Meeting
Ed replied to rockmom's topic in KY Football (High School)
North can match Jh's athleticism, but you have to make the playoffs to have a chance to make a run. Something North hasn't been able to do lately. North was out in the first round last year and I don't think they made it the year before. North had a great shot to make some noise in 5A the past few years, but couldn't do so. 6A won't be friendly to them come playoff time. -
If John were to win next week it would be remarkable to go from 1-5 to potential region champs. Jh is not in the same league as BG nor Graves in my opinion, but Iroquois stands in the way for that to ever happen. I think whoever wins the graves/BG game will be in the finals. Just my thoughts.

Oh No, Here Comes John Hardin
Ed replied to Hardin County Preps's topic in KY Football (High School)
I can guarantee coach Lewis is not letting his team look ahead. Grayson has a senior dominated team and they will be a hard out. It wouldn't surprise me to see this game go either way. John Hardin won't be looking ahead only the fans are thinking what looms ahead. My prediction is this game will be tight just like last time. -

John can't look ahead to anyone. They have improved each week which is what you want this time of year. I wouldn't go as far as saying BE is terrible. They were in the game with central hardin (35-28 final)and Central is undefeated. Played Boyle very tough as well. If John makes it to BG they can't compete with them. Mismatch. This late run though is impressive with the injuries this team has endured. -
Does John Hardin have a chance against Bullitt East?
Ed replied to Hardin County Preps's topic in KY Football (High School)
It will be interesting to see how effective BE QB is after sitting out last week with an ankle sprain. We all know those sprains can be nagging injuries. -
With all the injuries it's impressive to me they are still battling. They are playing sophomores everywhere.
-
John played without its top RB too. Injury plagued year for lots of teams.
-
Was this game ever close ?
-
Congrats to JH. It's been a rough year and to beat the district champ is impressive. Especially playing with all underclassmen for the most part.
-
John will be young again next year. I think they will be playing sophomores and juniors for the most part. John only has a few juniors playing now. Mainly sophomores. They should be better, but will need to avoid the injury bug like this year. Freshman and sophomore are the future. They have a good 8th grade class too. Nothing like the current freshman though.
-
It's been a tough year for coach Lewis. Jh has been decimated by injures. They lost both starting RB's to ACL's and a right tackle to an ACL. Any team who loses a starting RB more less 2 in one year would struggle. They have battled and competed each week, but can't finish. They will rebound and be better next year, but they will still be a sophomore/junior laden team next year.

John Hardin 40 Boyle County 38 (JV)
Ed replied to PurplePride92's topic in KY Football (High School)
Has Boyle lost in JV ball this year? Future must be bright at Boyle too -
Mostly sophomores on the JV team and some freshman. Many of the sophomores have been forced to play varsity due to injuries. Junior class is very average too. Jh is extremely young.

Iroquois 27 John Hardin 20 (OT)

Season ending Injuries to key seniors has put John in a world of hurt. I know John lost both starting RBs for the year and they lost 2 starting linebackers too. They were young to begin with, but when you lose key players it will make for a long year. -
That was a kind score too. JH played everybody in the 2nd half. It was over at half 28-0 I believe. WC didn't look great too me. Very average qb who threw it up for grabs to much!! Several INT in the game. Jh had several freshman playing as well. Future is bright. Just have to grow up.

Which new coach is under the most pressure to win immediately?
Ed replied to The Scribe's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would say most people feel BG is the odds on favorite to win 5A again this year. BG returns everyone I believe. -
Scribe I agree with you. He won't win the award. I just stated he is the best player with the most and highest potential. He is ranked 10th nationally of all players in the country by Rivals 247. Rankings are just that though. Play does the talking for all athletes. A qb will win.
-
Matt Elam is the best player in Kentucky. Although its hard for lineman to win Mr Football. I think Barker will probably win the award, but Elam is the best overall player in the state. I would love to see him win the award.
-
In my opinion, depth will be a concern for John Hardin this year. Coach Lewis has a solid group of seniors returning, but the classes below them are very thin in numbers and talent. The freshman team didn't have but about 20 kids and that's a low number for John. Plus the freshman team only won a game or 2. This year looks promising, but will likely lose to BG in the semis. They will not go undefeated this year with highlands and PRP both on the schedule.

How will they fare this year after the loss of Mark Brown? Will they reload or rebuild this year?

The list overall looks pretty solid to me. I think one if not the best d-lineman in the state was left off the list. Matt Elam from John Hardin. 6'6 345 and can run for a big guy. I think those who have played against him or have seen him play would agree. I have seen him play several times and this kid controls the line of scrimmage. The kid has the potential to play big time football. -
Mark Brown-John Hardin Coach- retires
Ed replied to MrKnowNothing's topic in KY Football (High School)
I figured this job would have more interest on this board. Only 6 post prior to this one. -
I would venture to say some Highlands supporters might have their feelings hurt if they lined up against Ensworth. No pun intended but Ensworth is a different "bird". I had the opportunity to watch Ensworth play this year and they beat the birds 21-35 points. Im sure they reload just like Highlands every year. They toyed with Lex Cath this year. They could have scored 80+ if they wanted.
-
I doubt Ensworth is dodging anyone!

Bowling Green...Tell us what to expect out of them
Ed replied to Hellbird's topic in KY Football (High School)
He asked for hope. I gave it to him. They average 40+ a game. Holding them to 14 might give em some hope. One of those tds came on a trick play.
