rockmom Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 An intriguing match up, no doubt. John Hardin struggled through the regular season, getting healthy and hitting their stride just as the playoffs began. When these two teams met on 9/26, Iroquois prevailed 27-20. Iroquois has 11 wins this season, and it's the first time since 1979 the Raiders have achieved this goal. Their only loss this season came on 10/2 to Grayson County, 27-20. Who will prevail in this game, where the winner goes home? The team who struggled early, but has come on strong in the end? Or the team no one talked about, no one ever expected to be making noise this late in November?
rockmom Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 I'm going with Iroquois in this one. I'm a sucker for a Cinderella story, and back when I was in high school, I attended quite a few Iroquois football games in my time. I'm so happy for the Raiders and I think this school NEEDS this success.
Purple88 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I hear ya RockMom! For me, My heart says "Go Iroquois"!, as they have passed all the hurdles well (even in defeat to Grayson Co) and worn the glass slipper really well. Love this story and don't want to see it end. Plus I'd just have to drive about 20 minutes to the game the day after Thanksgiving when my Purples would come to town. BUT, my head says it will be hard for Iroquois to repeat their earlier victory over John. John is picking up steam every practice. Very young team is starting to come together and believe. Coach Lewis is battle tested and knows how to get it done. I honestly think they are the only team (playing on their field) that can give BG a game in 5A. John 28 Iroquois 14
Varneystone Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 John Hardin wins a close, highly entertaining game. JH 34 Iroquois 27.
hoss403 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 John had some issues the first time these two teams played. I know the starting QB and DB did not start for disciplinary reasons. Iroquois is a very athletic team and is the only team in the region that can match JH's athleticism. That being said, I don't see them beating the Bulldogs twice this season. Going with John Hardin by 2 TDs.
MrKnowNothing Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Only team in region to match their athleticism? Does that mean the only teams left in playoffs?? Or overall? May want to check out the team you played on October 17th and reword that statement.
Ed Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 North can match Jh's athleticism, but you have to make the playoffs to have a chance to make a run. Something North hasn't been able to do lately. North was out in the first round last year and I don't think they made it the year before. North had a great shot to make some noise in 5A the past few years, but couldn't do so. 6A won't be friendly to them come playoff time.
MrKnowNothing Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Can't argue with the points you made Ed... Just was thrown off by the athleticism statement.. Very good points about them not having success in playoffs and in 5a.. Wonder if it will change any time soon

MrKnowNothing Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Just wanted clarification... I think Bowling Green will have the athletes to match John. But what about a JH vs Graves County.. Gregory returns to JH
Ed Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I am obviously a huge JH fan and homer, but if they win Friday they aren't in the same league as BG or Graves as I have said earlier posts. Too much youth I think to match somebody that powerful. I'm just glad they made a deep playoff run and everything else is gravy in my eyes. I know I never thought they would be this deep in the playoffs. So win or lose this week the season ended on a positive note. At one point there was doubt if they would make the playoffs after the loss to North Hardin. Great turn around.
MrKnowNothing Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Again-- great points made in your post.. Credit to the kids and coaches for continuing to fight and work hard..

Not looking ahead, but if we limit turnovers we can compete with anyone in 5A. Not saying we will, but we certainly can.
MEANGREENMACHINE Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Much improved John Hardin gets the win. John Hardin 24 Irq 13
Hardin County Preps Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Will John Hardin beat Iriquois and make it to the state semifinals against Bowling Green
