"Practice, you are talking about practice" I"m sure there are kids that play baseball that get in the cage and hit a few during basketball season or throw a little bit if they want too, but seriously they don't miss any games because they can't schedule any till after the hoops state tourney. So football season should be shortened a week or two and take out the bye week and do the same for basketball. No games scheduled until football is over. Preferably by Dec 1. July 15 - Dec 1 is long enough for football, 4 1/2 months. Basketball is NOv 15 - march ?, Only 4 months. At least take off 1 week to make it even, 2 weeks would make it better, but would be happy with just getting rid of the bye weeks.

Football should not overlap basketball, causes way to many problems with smaller schools. Shouldn't this be an easy fix for the KHSAA to handle. They have pretty much took care of all the other sports from this happening and it's about time for them to do this one too. They need to take out the bye week for one. High school kids don't need a bye week, that is ridiculous. Also, if they would just let the top 2 in each district make the playoffs instead of trying to be nice and let almost every kid in the state play a playoff game. They could have the football state tourney 2 weeks earlier which would put it on Thanksgiving weekend. Would probably even have a lot more fans because of it being a holiday weekend and people being off work. Not like they don't play anyways that weekend. Would be nice to have the football season over by DEC 1. Just my opinion, but it would help out a whole lot if they would do something like this.

You are correct, still just 3 starters(Whitaker, Warren, Jones). The others are 8th graders. Getting some valuable experience while waiting for the other Football Dawgs to bring home a state title.

Whitaker had 43 points and 11 assists to lead the Bulldogs. Shot 22/23 from the foul line. Was a lot closer than most would of thought and with the Brawl in the 2nd half between Clemons(Haz) and Blank(B-Horn)and Buckhorn losing their best player due to ejection, Buckhorn held there own without him showing they are a bit under rated in this region. Hazard has Perry Central coming up on Tuesday, should be interesting.

Looks like a good start for the Pirates and Coach Hall. Good win to get the season started, but going to overtime with Jackson City shows a lot of work still needs to be done.

Knott didn't pull any punches in this one. They kept firing away till the buzzer. Stamper didn't even play in this one. I think Cox had 24.

Kinda a little lopsided, but Perry has been playing well. Didn't think it would of been this big of a blow out. Perry had 4 in double digits.

I like the were young excuse! Especially when you say it year after year after year!

The tough district of Breathitt, Jackson, Riverside and Wolfe. Would be a dream to draw any of them in the regional tourney.

Unfortunately, Jack will not be calling anymore due to his foot problems. I'm sure he will be missed! Benny did a great job as a first year varsity official and I'm sure will move up to one of the top officials eventually. The others in the 14th region are all pretty close: Glen Napier, Tommy Hutton, Jeff Richie, Brian Cook, Mike Melton, Larry Thacker (All with state tourney experience) Love to see any of these guys come on the court, they always do what they need to do and keep the game flowing.

They have moved everything else to Western Kentucky, why not move everything we have their so all sports will be equally upset! Western is a nice place and venue, but not at all a Central location for all of the sports that are having there tournaments their. It is also not fair to have it there year after year, it is a big advantage to the schools that are from around that area to not have to travel, be able to practice at the facilities more, etc. etc. etc. There should be a rotation around the state in everything except Boys Basketball! Rupp is the only place to have a basketball tourney in Kentucky, until they build the new arena in Lexington! All the other sports should have 4 locations around the state, North, South, East and West to hold their prospective tourneys. This would make it fair to all schools that are entering their tourneys. There are facilities that will hold all the other tourneys that are big enough in these areas and I'm sure would welcome the fans and sponsors would come flying in with money to help welcome the teams and people as well. Just my opinion.

Without Campbell, Hazard will be right there fighting it out with Perry, Knott, Letcher and Estill! Will not be as easy for them as everyone thinks. Should be a pretty even top 5 schools in the Region! Can't wait to get it started. Good luck to all.

I feel exactly the same way... all these new football fields with turf and new baseball complexes, blah blah blah, would be nice to get a little something for these kids that put in their time too.

Why did the better players play last? Usually the better players go ahead out front of all the slower players so they don't get held up? Just wondering why that region would do it with the better players playing last, that would make for a slow day if the slowest players were in the front of everyone else wouldn't it! Just wondering?

Fundraising, fundraising, fundraising and more fundraising! With the cost of travel being so high and things like that, it's hard to fund a non revenue sport through the school. So each team has to do what they can do to raise their own money for the things that they want! Some schools are different and fund everything, but there are not very many of those around anymore. And if you are lucky enough to make it to the state tourney or have an individual make it, it still would cost over $1,000 for the 3 days and that really makes it hard when you have no help!

If you consider the throw a shot attempt, they can go get it without penalty, if it's not considered a shot attempt it is a violation. Same thing if a player is under the basket shoots it straight up and hits nothing, it comes back down and the player catches it, they can now dribble, pass or shoot again with no penalty!!!! Just thought I would add that in there.

Is this the one where you get 2 shots per foul where it is a 3 point shot. I know if it's a 2 point shot you get one shot per foul! But don't remember what the 3 point penalty will be for a multiple foul!

That is kinda what I was getting at. Yes great help, sponsors, close for the week, etc., but it's a real advantage for the teams that are a lot closer and can play there everyday or more than some others. I know it's not a real big deal to some, but playing a course everyday compared to 3 or 4 times a year makes a huge difference in scores! Would be nice just to move it around I think!

It has been in Bowling Green now for a while, kinda like the girls basketball tourney. I know they like to spread the tourneys out all over the state, but shouldn't they move them all around Kentucky?? Would make it better to have it at some of the great courses we have all over the state. Not saying that Bowling Green doesn't have a nice course, it's great for the tourney and the sponsors are great too, but i'm sure if they wanted to move it they could get the same interest from sponsors at other venues and better courses....

Especially when they are supposed to be #4 in the nation!! Love it!!!

Transportation is $2.00 a mile for a bus in our district. Way to expensive to get a bus for 4-6 kids for every match. We have parents go or the kids that are able to drive, get theirselves their if their parents don't want to go! It's a shame it has to be that way, but it is just unaffordable any other way. And a coach not going to state tourney is ridiculous, whether it's the All A or the big state tourney in Bowling Green, I have been and it's a great time, wouldn't miss it for the world.

The officials always glance at the table before leaving the confines of the court. If the score keeper/timer is standing, most of the time that means they have a problem and to not leave until it gets corrected. But whatever the sign is that the book is not right needs to be commuicated between the officials and the official scorers so they don't leave when there is a correction to be made after the game, because corrections can be made until the officials leave the confines of the court, then after that all changes are over..
