  1. Assistants will probably be: Cox, Davis, King, Ratliff, and of course Stamper, just hope they have enough seats.
  2. The games are still in the same order, but will be played First 2 on Tuesday and last 2 on Wednesday at 5:00 and 8:00 at Hazard. Breathitt/Powell and Hazard/Letcher on Tuesday Estill/Wolfe and Perry/Knott on wednesday Hope the weather gets a little better the rest of the week.
  3. Looks like a busy summer for the Horn! Good luck to you guys.
  4. Sounds like Letcher is going to hire, Coach Hammonds from West Jessamine officially this week and Knott supposedly has offered Coach Fraley from Pulaskie the job and he has accepted, but not been done officially yet. They may finally have these two jobs filled in the 14th. Jackson City is also going to be filled again, don't know who will be the lucky candidate to move into the coaching ranks will be though. Will be a great stepping stone for some young coach.
  5. Should do a great job with this program. Who will his assistants be? Will Coach Trent still be in the picture or will he be a little upset he didn't get a shot and choose not to help out, or is he on his way to being a Patriot at Knott County.
  6. The kids deserve this, very good rule. Only during Championship games this year, Regional and District finals may be down the road I'm sure. Glad to see it.
  7. Knott Central- interviewed several, offered a few the job, no takers! What in the world is the problem. Letcher Central- Still looking at some quality coaches until they offer the job to Coach Trent. I hear they are looking at Coach Jackson from Lincoln, which is the AD's brother and also looking at entertaining a nice offer to Coach Hammonds from West Jessamine. Two great coaches to be trying to get to come to Whitesburg.
  8. This would be the only way they could afford the $55,000 offer to coach without a teaching job, if you ask me!
  9. It was in the talk with Knott, where Coach Hicks made sure he could hire his son, Tyler as an assistant! Should be interesting to say the least! Hope he comes and closes the doors to all the parents and makes them stay off the bench and in the stands where they belong. Then the kids would be able to play to their potential instead of worrying about what good ole dad is saying.
  10. From my understanding, Johnny Martin has been hired as the next coach at Pike Central.
  11. Pretty sure this was a done deal. Will know in the next 24 hours. They said he would Retire from Scott, come to Knott just to coach for a nice amount of cash. The only thing that would knock this deal out is if his wife doesn't want to move! Big question if she will or not! If he does accept the offer, this will start a major coaching movement for a lot of coaches. Top quality coaches would leave where they are to get the Scott County job and then their jobs would be opened for others, will be fun to watch and see how it all plays out.
  12. Don't know who I would wish on Pike Central more, Justice or Spurlock? Tough choice for the lesser of two evils. They have both gotten about the same attitudes towards the people around them, so it doesn't much matter. Great coaches on the floor, but definitely need to work on their "Social Skills".
  13. Would be a great job for some young coach just starting out to get their feet wet before moving to something better.
  14. I have heard this weekend that Jeff Jackson may be up for this job. Since his brother is on the board of controls and is the ad here, wouldn't be too far fetched to believe this would happen. He has had some great success at Lincoln County.
  15. Records and District titles don't matter to them, they want "TRIPS TO RUPP". And they also want someone that is a good people person and got along with the kids. Coach Trent would be the best person for this job, with his great people skills and is very well liked throughout the county. May need to get a few more players to get the trip to rupp part accomplished though.
  16. FIRST, LET ME CONFIRM THAT LETCHER CENTRAL HAS LET GO OF COACH JUSTICE. No Rhett is definitely not a big name, but has a lot of experience and is from Knott County and no big names will come due to lack of funds they pay for coaches. Parks has no coaching experience but has been around the game under other coaches and has some good experience with that and IS FROM CLAY COUNTY. Is Jenkins keeping the coach they hired to coach last year? Haven't heard if he is staying or not, someone said that he may not be, that is why I mentioned it.
  17. Have heard Coach Spurlock is interested in the Pike Central job, anyone heard anything about him putting in for this job? Also, can anyone confirm if Coach Justice has been let go at Letcher Central? This would open up another good job for someone. Seen that on another board, but hasn't been confirmed as of yet. Tim Parks has taken the JBS job for this year, but if Spurlock leaves Clay County, I'm sure he would be ready to go back home and try and get that job. Jenkins is looking for a new boys coach still. Knott Central hasn't hired, but is still looking for that big name coach, several have turned them down, Rhett Gibson is the front runner from all the talk, should hear something soon. All of these changes will definitely shake up the 53rd district.
  18. Their black undershirts are also illegal. If they were going to T for an illegal uniform, they should of made them take off the illegal (wrong colored) undershirt. Why enforce one silly rule and let the one everyone can see go? Deesn't make much sense to me, but I do agree the T did not cost them the game. They had the lead and blew it, happens all the time.
  19. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Way to hard for a family of 4 or 5 to get to a ball game, pay $5 each to get in 2 or 3 nights a week. Totally ridiculous. They need to bring their prices back down and have adult and children prices and not charge everyone $5 to get in. If they did that they would spend more on food and drinks anyways and end up making more money. People are only going to the big rivalry games or waiting until tournament time to show up due to budget.
  20. Hazard could of easily been playing Saturday morning, possibly Saturday night this year. They were up 11 with a couple minutes to go in the 3rd and went ICE cold. Quit doing what got them the lead and just fell a part! Just one of those things, I guess. They had the talent to win, but when they went cold, they just kept getting tighter and tighter until that banjo string broke and they were headed back home again. The 14th couldn't of gotten a better draw than this year to win a few games.
  21. He is a great guy, great coach, and they won 11 ball games! With what they had and how young they were, that was a great year for them. Voted on by his peers and they must of agreed! Congrats Coach Honeycutt.
  22. And unless Knott County can get another transfer or two, it will be another ??? years before anyone from the 14th will win. Gotta love a good streak!
  23. Harlan Ind., Harlan Central,Allen Central, South Floyd and Prestonsburg are much better for the 14th than Jenkins, Powell and Estill. Much better for everyone involved.
  24. I would love to see everyone in the regional tourney too. If you have all the teams play each other one time, that would be around 16 games for the region to be able to seed for the tourney. That would leave plenty of games to get better competition if you wanted it. If you have a 17 team Region, #16/#17 plays a play-in game to see who gets to play the #1 seed. Would be a great tourney getting ready for the state tourney. Also heard they were maybe going to add another school or two in London. Could they possibly be talking about an East and West Laurel school.
  25. There are always other agendas to be met in the re-districting of teams. So whether or not yours makes sense or not, has no bearing on what the KHSAA will do. They do what they want to do when it comes to this stuff. In the 14th, Estill and Powell need to get out, as well as Jenkins going to the 15th. Move Harlan in wouldn't be too bad either. JBS won't be around too long so they have to be ready for that too.
