  1. Thanks for the great competitions on here, is a very tough job to keep up with all of these games and you are commended for the work. Got to love those Eastern Ky teams.
  2. Thought that was pretty bad of them on the broadcast! James is a great guy and official.:idunno:

  6. What about a little basket interference? Didn't really notice it until others started talking about it, but when you look at the replay, their definitely is a hand all in the net. Combs had an uncontested layup at the buzzer from a great pass from Whitaker and it rattled around and didn't go down, because of the hand in the net, we will never know, but their was definitely one their and that is the definition of basket interference, so they say. I also remember this being called in the Hazard/Perry game last year, and after seeing both replays, the one last night was a lot worse. Still a heck of a ball game, congrats to the Patriots for surviving a tough 2 weeks of tournaments and making it to the finals. Perry should definitely be the more rested team. Should be a wild one in Breathitt County.
  7. Bart was also one of the ones on the Berea College Brawl last month too I believe. I believe I saw him jumping into a few hay makers in that one. Man he has had a rough couple of weeks.
  8. Could not believe Coach Fraley called the timeout to ice his own free throw shooter, Bartrum, with 5 seconds to go up 3 and that free throw would of put the Bobcats out of reach. He misses and Breathitt has a chance to tie at the buzzer with a good look, could of been a "little bump" on the shot, but good no call. Good last game of the year for the Bobcats. The big question, where do the Bobcats go from here? From all the rumors, Noble is gone, will they wait long to make the decision or could it come as soon as today? Only time will tell.
  9. No they won't. It was okayed to use in National federation championship games only, but since The girls facility here in Kentucky can not have the replay because Bowling Green is not equipped for it the same as the boys at Rupp, neither gets to use it. It will be bad if it comes down to that and they didn't use it because of Title 9 laws, but that is how it is for now. No shot clock will probably ever be used, but I would like to see it.
  10. Would totally agree with this. The kids shot the free throws, made some and missed some, and both teams had a chance to win, that is all they can ask for. Sounds like a great game.
  11. Won't be any worse than you have seen all year from the 13th. The guys over here in the 14th do very well. Especially the top 8-10 officials. You guys I'm sure will not be disappointed with the crews you get.
  12. Sounds like it was a great game in Beattyville. Sorry someone had to lose this one. Congrats to the Owls, good luck to both teams next week in the regional tourney.
  13. Buckhorn plays Perry Central tonight, will be a tough game, Perry's Noble and the Coach are both not feeling well, could be a long night for the Commodores.

  16. When a team wins a big game, some player almost always throws the ball up in the air in happiness and you never hear about it, but since someone did it when they lost a big game it seems to be the story of the night. This kid is not hot headed or has never done anything to anyone, he was upset they lost a big game and that was the end of it. The ball went up in the air like thousands before, let it go. Congrats to KCC on a great win at home and the last game for those seniors. Can't wait to see this one again in the regional tourney.

  18. Some coaches feel like they can say sure I'll take care of you and it may get them a few calls down the road, so they say nothing about it and hope it helps them out, I myself tell them if I feel they have had a good year from what I've seen and tell them I will give them an honest rating. And as for the assignor, I have heard from others that he used to be one of the guys that used to talk to a lot of coaches when he used to call games too about ratings, so what are you gonna say if you talk to him about it. Our rating system is terrible and don't know what they can do to fix it. It's a good old boy system, if you are buddy buddy with all the coaches and give them a few calls, it doesn't matter how you call, you get their top rating, totally unfair to the good, honest referees, but everything else in this world is political, so why wouldn't this be too. :isurrender:
  19. We have officials in our region that called myself and all the other coaches in the region a couple days before the ratings were supposed to happen and actually ask for a #1 rating from us to make sure they made the regional tourney or the state tourney and some of the coaches did and some of us didn't, but don't say they don't talk about it, if they didn't care about moving up and calling the big games, they wouldn't do it. Most do it because they love the game and want to be in the big game, for the same reasons we coach and our players play. So it is talked about very much. And I agree with the officials talking about the good and the bad players on the way to the game and what they have done in the past and seen them do, how they act, and that goes for us coaches too. If a coach has a short fuse, I'm sure the officials know about it and are ready for it. coaches scout and officials talk to other officials for the same reason we scout, because they don't want to be surprised. It's all part of the job. And I admit we are too hard on officials, we always want perfection and know it's not possible, they are only human.
  20. I know us coaches rank the officials here in the 14th, but as far as a list to show who is where, no one has seen one in 3 years since Tommy Hall has taken over the job. He thinks it's fair to keep it a secret and not let anyone konw how it came out. Says it's not fair to the other officials to show everyone where they all finished when in years past it was all public knowledge and was placed on a board for all of us coaches to see so we know it was done fairly and honestly. And when we all agreed we left and that was the ratings. Well now we don't even have a meeting to rate, he comes around to visit us and gets our sheet from us personally, really don't understand that one. Crazy stuff goes on here in the 14th and we really have some great officials, but they are treated terrible.
  21. That is my question too, our top 12 guys here in the 14th are by far better than the whole 13th and 15th region guys. So why in the world would our guys be going to the 13th to call their regional tourney and their guys go to the 15th and the 15th guys are coming to the 14th, ridiculous. Not good for our teams to have to put up with such pitiful officiating in the regional tourney, leave our guys here and let them call our tourney. They call all year long and then call the districts too, why would the region be any different.:ylsuper:
  22. And not only did they probably call 2 varsity games in a row, there is also a tourney going on at the new Knott Sportsplex where they probably called 4 or 5 games over their before going to do varsity games. This happens every weekend too, this is the only way some people can afford to feed their family, and pay the bills, not to mention their is a shortage of officials in this area to help out these kids to get games in. Quit complaining about how many game these officials are calling, if you want to help out, get a whistle and try getting on the floor, and if you don't shut the heck up complaining about these guys that are out their night in and night out giving these kids an opportunity to play this game. Yes some are better than others, but at least they are out there while people up in the stands like you are bashing them for trying to make a living and doing these teams a service for even being their. :isurrender:
  23. Only an upset because Stidham didn't play for Buckhorn. The other kids stepped up big for them. Colwell was the man tonight, if he can play like that the rest of the year and if they can get everyone back to full strength, they will be tough to deal with in the tourney. I believe the 54th district draw is next Thursday, will be tough to see who plays who.
