Looks like Coach Wright(South Laurel) and Coach Holland(Hazard) could be two coaches on the list, along with Shannon Hoskins, Robert Marcum and Tim Parks, former players at Clay. Whoever they go after, being ranked #1 next season and all the history at Clay could be great hiring points. Will be very interesting to see what direction that Clay County chooses to go, experience or former player. Is Richie Farmer interested?

Spurlocks daughter will be a pretty good player, S.C. will be glad to have her and don't think he had much of a choice but to leave at Hazard and I believe the same is true here in Clay County, even if they are supposed to be #1 in preseason rankings. It's win or go home at Clay and he has been sent on his way.

Why do regions trade officials?

True, but their opinions are taken into consideration and the assigning secretary let's it known that they don't want to stay in region to call. -
Only 32 games allowed
Master of the Hardwood replied to cards1b21's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
They always over schedule due to rain, and if it doesn't rain, they cancel the ones they don't want to play. Always rains, so they usually don't have to worry to much. Been pretty nice so far this year. -
Why do regions trade officials?

I'm sure it's always good to know if either team has a hot headed player to watch out for, tendencies that each team has, like whether they play uptempo or slow it down, helps to get ready in the pre game conference to know what to discusss and how to be prepared for it, helps also to know if they have a whiny coach or one that works the officials hard to just be prepared for it, not like it has anything to do with outcome, but at least you are ready for some of the things that could possibly happen, and I believe this is something done by some of the better officials to be more prepared for what is going on around them. Some people have other opinions, but in my opinion this is something good for them to talk about.:dancingpa -
After you hold them back 2 or 3 years like some kids, they should already be high school kids so coaches want to move them up, this should not be allowed. If you want your kid to play high school ball, don't keep holding them back then. Let them be a freshman and then they can play. I think kids being held back for sports is ridiculous and is getting worse every year. I do agree with the golf argument in this situation though, would be tough to have a middle school league. But all other sports, I don't see it being an issue.

It can't happen in football or soccer anyways, so why not include all the other sports as well. They can play AAU, go to camps, even come and practice, but until they are freshman, they shouldn't be allowed to play in any games. Maybe this will keep these kids from being held back for 2 or 3 years. I can see doing it 1 year, but some of these parents are taking it way to far "HOPING" that their kid grows and develops into the next Lebron or something. Ridiculous. Let them stay and play gradeschool ball until it's their turn.

I heard Tim Parks from JBS is also interested in this job. Probably looking like to much of a high profile hire though. -
Kentucky/Indiana Allstar team
Master of the Hardwood replied to Log Mountain Boy's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Why it's bigger to Indy? Well they get a chance to beat KENTUCKY in something, and that is it. The Ky kids don't really care about going to Indy to play, and don't really look to much into winning or losing, but the kids from Indy I would guess have something to prove if they can beat the Ky team. -
Should foul situations change?
Master of the Hardwood replied to ladiesbballcoach's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would have to agree, there is not a problem now, so why change. The problem only exists with non talented teams that just like to foul or at lower level games. The officials are calling fouls they have to call and the teams just need to adjust. If they don't it's a marathon. Simple as that. -
Addais All-Star Game at Perry Central
Master of the Hardwood replied to Freeport's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I believe there were 3 or 4 coaches their, but I'm sure a lot more watching on tv or on the internet. Wazoo Sports done a great job putting this on all over the country. Was a great day for these kids. The Senior game was a great game to watch. -

Why did the 3 boys from Scott not even show up for the Ky All Star try outs? That is ridiculous. -
Jarrod Polson.......Sleeper???????
Master of the Hardwood replied to FANOFTHE11th's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
All Star games are pretty much a "money thing". You ask a bunch of good players to come and play to get butts in the seats and have them buy concessions. That is why they have so many of them. Whoever gets the rebound, if they can dribble brings it up and goes one on one and throws up a shot. How can you really judge a player by what they do in these types of games. Very unorganized and playing time is all different depending on who you are or who the coaches are and who the media wants in the game. So to answer the question, why have them? MONEY, AND THAT IS IT.
