This was one of the biggest game in the mountains last night, and is rapidly becoming one of the state's better rivalries. I heard there were an estimated 3,500 in Knott's gym for the game.

 

KCC won 55-52 to avenge a 61-54 OT loss at PCC on January 28.

 

One of these teams will more than likely be the 14th region champion. I don't see anyone else challenging either for the title. The tournament is at Breathitt County this year.

Knott Central is 15-1 in region play and Perry Central is 10-1.

Watching two mountain teams go after it in a packed gym, is true high school basketball at it best. If you haven't experienced it, you are missing out.

Not going to name anyone, but a certain PCC player really needs to keep their emotions in check. A poor showing of sportsmanship after the game.

When a team wins a big game, some player almost always throws the ball up in the air in happiness and you never hear about it, but since someone did it when they lost a big game it seems to be the story of the night. This kid is not hot headed or has never done anything to anyone, he was upset they lost a big game and that was the end of it. The ball went up in the air like thousands before, let it go. Congrats to KCC on a great win at home and the last game for those seniors. Can't wait to see this one again in the regional tourney.

I was surprised with Knott Central seeing them play Hazard at the WYMT in person, and then seeing them play Shelby Valley the next night via online stream. They were bigger and more athletic on the interior than what I'd expected of them. They also had a couple of shooters that looked capable of complimenting Cox and Stamper.

 

Seeing each of the powers in the 14th play once, I'd give them a slight edge. I think this is one of the closer regions though-- KCC, PCC, and Hazard all seem to have a legitimate shot at winning it.

Knott County Central would certainly be a favorite, but they will have a tough 53rd district semifinal game against Letcher County Central at LCC.

Letcher Central plays well at home but I don't think they have enough firepower to handle Knott Central. Knott would really have to play bad to not win this game.
