The Professor Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Great 14th region game from Breathitt County. Knott Central missed a free throw that would have put them up by 4 and out of reach with 5 seconds left in the game. Breathitt rebounded and got a 3 point shot off but didn't connect as time ran out. The 14th final Four is now set for Monday, March 8th: Wolfe County vs. Perry County Central @ 6:30 Knott County Central vs. Hazard @ 8:30
In All Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I was confident this would be a battle. I can't help but pull for a KCC/PCC final. If that happens it will be some kind of atmosphere.
The Professor Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 I was confident this would be a battle. I can't help but pull for a KCC/PCC final. If that happens it will be some kind of atmosphere. There's a very good chance that will be the game. Perry Central and Knott Central have played the best ball in the region all year. Hazard could possibly sneak in and spoil the party with an upset of Knott Central. However, Knott Central has already beaten them 3 times this season. They seem to have Hazard's number. Knott Central is guard oriented and is not a good matchup for Hazard. Hazard matches up better with Perry Central, who they beat 44-41 in the district championship game last week in the only game those two played this year. Perry Central's game plan, on the other hand, is more dominated by their big men inside. They like to slow it down and keep the score as low as possible, as most of the teams Coach Hatcher has coached tend to do. A game between PCC and KCC would be a game of contrast. One team wanting a fast paced game, the other wanting to slow it down. They split during the season with PCC winning in overtime in Hazard and KCC winning by 3 in Hindman. If it comes down to this game it should be a dandy.
Master of the Hardwood Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Could not believe Coach Fraley called the timeout to ice his own free throw shooter, Bartrum, with 5 seconds to go up 3 and that free throw would of put the Bobcats out of reach. He misses and Breathitt has a chance to tie at the buzzer with a good look, could of been a "little bump" on the shot, but good no call. Good last game of the year for the Bobcats. The big question, where do the Bobcats go from here? From all the rumors, Noble is gone, will they wait long to make the decision or could it come as soon as today? Only time will tell.
Midnight Rider Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Was at the game and yes that was a bone headed time out. No defense was played by either team. Good thing KCC has talent because they're not going to out work anybody.
All In Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Will Breathitt's gym be able to hold a KCC/PCC final? How far is Breathitt County from both schools?
The Professor Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Will Breathitt's gym be able to hold a KCC/PCC final? How far is Breathitt County from both schools? The semifinals is where Breathitt's gym runs into problems. It's not big enough to hold the crowd so they have to go to split sessions. As for the championship game, it will be a squeeze to get everyone in there but since there will be only two schools playing that night I think they will be okay.

Shocking. I'm sure the Bobcats will find another gem from somewhere across the state to coach their team...:sssh:

If the rumor ends up being true then they're probably going to lose a couple of good kids that play in their middle school system. Doug's son and his friend, a Hensley boy, who are both very good players. I would doubt Doug would want them playing for the school that fired him as coach.
