tash2597 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 From Ryan Ernst blog of nky.com: End-of-game Replays Approved in High School Basketball— Replay equipment may be used in state high school basketball championships next year to determine the final outcome of games. In its April 13-15 meeting in Indianapolis, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Basketball Rules Committee voted to permit state high school associations to use a replay monitor to review field-goal attempts at the expiration of time in the fourth quarter or any overtime period, but only in games when the last-second attempt would affect the outcome of the game. This addition to Rule 2-2-1 was one of two major rules changes and five major editorial revisions approved by the Basketball Rules Committee. All changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors. TubbyCAT Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Wow! That is going to be VERY interesting! It says this will be used where this is available! So does that mean, which I am sure it does, not every school is going to have this!

This would mean that as long as Rupp is wired, they would be good to go.

Correct...if you read the entire article, it states that it will for sure be used in state championships because of how games were decided in South Carolina, Michigan, and Ohio (Mt. Notre Dame-Lakota West).
Master of the Hardwood Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 The kids deserve this, very good rule. Only during Championship games this year, Regional and District finals may be down the road I'm sure. Glad to see it.

JokersWild24 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 State championship games (as in the title game itself) or tournaments? i.e.: Could this have applied to the 2003 Hopkinsville vs. Daviess County game in the Sweet 16 Quarters?

grandpa1951 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think this is a great idea. Big games are often down to the wire, and sometimes its just nearly impossible to make the correct call right off hand. I think this will do nothing but only benefit high school basketball.
