They were doing a report on the new Bank of Kentucky Center arena being awarded the boys' 9th and 10th Region and the girls' 9th Region championships this coming season. As the report was concluding, the commentator mentioned that there might be some kind of conflict with the Sweet 16 Tournament. He then quoted the NKU spokesman as saying, "Of course they would love to host it, but we are probably too small."

 

Now I know the Sweet 16 could never be held at NKU; but has anyone else heard even the suggestion of this come up? And is there really a conflict with Rupp; or are they maybe getting confused with the football situation in Louisville?

Just a lot of excitement around the new arena. And rightfully so.

I am really looking forward to the 9th and 10th region being held at NKU. Some of the top talent in the state will be in these two regions. :thumb:

 

I want to come up for the Louisville game and see the new arena then.

I was there for the Carrie Underwood concert, and it is a fantastic facility! And the arena staff and other personnel did a great job.

The comments made by Mr. Johansen are totally unfounded and should not have been made. I, for one, know that they have never been any talks of NKU hosting the boys Sweet 16 I hate to say this because I am probably going to go into the sports media world myself, but this just goes to show you that you cn't believe everything that is reported.

 

The KHSAA would be stupid to move the Sweet 16 from Lexington or Louisville, if Louisville would ever get it again.

 

I have been to the girls Sweet 16 and the BOK Center is about the right size for it, BUT I don't see the KHSAA moving it from Western Kentucky University since Houchen's puts so much money into it.
