It has actually been out for about a week or so. It was in Ryan Ernst's blog last week.

 

I don't know why Ryan calls The Bank of Kentucky Center the BKc. From everything that I'm hearing, everyone here at NKU and SMG has been calling it the BOK Center. Oh well. LOL.

 

For the first person to PM me, I've got a hard copy of the official release for the announcement yesterday. There were only a few handed out at the press conference in The Bank of Kentucky Center yesterday. The press conference, which was all of about 3-4 minutes long had three speakers....Matt Merchant (a marketing director for The Bank of Kentucky Center), Anthony Strong (the superintendant of the Campbell County School System), and someone from Pendleton County.

 

I really don't have any use for the hard copy and I thought that someone from the 10th Region would like to have it.

I think he's got it right this time. I'm hearing more BKC then anything else. It does make more sense, as it incorporates the entire name, and not just part of it. :thumb:

 

As for the release being last week, it didn't hit the paper until today, and I don't do obscure sports blogs. If you're upset about it being old news though, maybe you should've posted it last week when you saw it. :eek:

They have moved everything else to Western Kentucky, why not move everything we have their so all sports will be equally upset! Western is a nice place and venue, but not at all a Central location for all of the sports that are having there tournaments their. It is also not fair to have it there year after year, it is a big advantage to the schools that are from around that area to not have to travel, be able to practice at the facilities more, etc. etc. etc. There should be a rotation around the state in everything except Boys Basketball! Rupp is the only place to have a basketball tourney in Kentucky, until they build the new arena in Lexington! All the other sports should have 4 locations around the state, North, South, East and West to hold their prospective tourneys. This would make it fair to all schools that are entering their tourneys. There are facilities that will hold all the other tourneys that are big enough in these areas and I'm sure would welcome the fans and sponsors would come flying in with money to help welcome the teams and people as well. Just my opinion.

I personally prefer BKC because it sounds better...just going by what everyone I work with calls it.

If you look around some threads, you will see where I have been talking about that for at least two years now! The All "A" started in NKy and the only reason it was moved was it got to big for anything we had in NKy at the time.

 

The KHSAA is all about money, and if NKU could get P&G, Kroger's, Toyota, Castellini,Drees, Griffin,Fidelity Investments, COMAIR, Delta Air Lines, Citigroup or Duke etc. to put up the money, the girls sweet sixteen would move here in a heart beat! You could even ask the airport (CVG)

why not sponsor the event!

 

If you work for one of these compaines ask your bosses why not bring the girls sweet sixteen to NKy and the Bank of Kentucky Center! Lets stop being the step child of the rest of the Commonwealth....

10K capacity.

My guess it is now the third largest arena in Kentucky behind of course Rupp and Freedom Hall. I know it is bigger than E.A Dibble Arena at WKU, the Regional Special Events Center at Murray State and the Alumni Coliseum at EKU!
