No sour grapes at all. The better team on that day won. Simply stating that a team that loses four games on the year by 8 or more runs and ends up with a losing record before the regional tournament begins is hardly "dominate." It's sad that people like you pull against a team just because they're a private school.

I would hardly call a team that went into their regional tournament with a losing record as "dominate."

X is playing Ballard at home to open the season again.

For all the bellyaching about the visiting side, we're yet to have a game where we need as much seating as we have over there.

CAL takes out X tonight in another big upset. Congrats to CAL, a .500 team on the season, for getting it done when it counts. This should eat at the Tigers all off-season.

CAL is currently up on X after 4, 6-2.

No uniform, but a dress code. Khaki/dress pants with ties and dress shoes. Seniors can wear polos on Fridays. No facial hair (must dry shave at school if you have any stubble) and hair can't be below the ears.

That's almost funny considering the disparity in titles between the two schools.

Congrats to the Tigers for taking the crown back as the top overall athletic program in the state last year according to SI. It's amazing how many of the top 25 have small enrollments. Top department in KY for '07-'08

It's too bad that Seneca's long-time coach had to go out with a comment like this: "I'm done," he said. "I've had a pretty good run over the years, but I'm tired. The kids have changed, the parents have changed, and the playing field isn't level." Congrats to T's pitcher for talking positively about the opposing team when it seems as though Seneca's coach can't even say positive things about his own team, let alone the opposing one.

I don't think assistant coach Jim Blanford would want to fill the shoes of his long time buddy, therefore, I don't have a clue at this time.

Marty Donlon, St. X’s head golf coach for the past 45 years, has announced his retirement effective June 1, 2008. A member of the Social Studies faculty, Marty has served the students at St. X for the past 45 years as a teacher or guidance counselor. During his tenure as the golf coach, Marty led the Tigers to an incredible 18 Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championships and 9 State Runner-up finishes, along with 24 Regional titles. He has been named National Coach of the Year three times and was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1996. In addition to the NHSACA Hall of Fame, he is a member of the Bellarmine University Hall of Fame (1986), the St. X Alumni Hall of Honors (1992), the Metro Area Athletic Directors Hall of Fame (2002), and the Dawahares/ KHSAA Hall of Fame (2004). Marty is the founder and director of the Kentucky High School Golf All-State program and has served as the KHSAA Regional Tournament Director for 44 years. He has also served in various capacities as a high school basketball coach for over forty years.

Coach O'Toole, St. X's swim coach is stepping aside, making way for his son, Michael to take over as head coach. Mike has been an assistant for over ten years and the program looks to be in great shape, but it's been quite a transition recently for St. X's athletic programs. First Kroh in tennis, then Berg in basketball and now O'Toole in swimming. Donlon in golf and Glaser in football are the only two "legends" left.

Manual has six titles, the last in '62 and Male won in '43.

Tronzo was 3rd team as a Jr. and 1st team as a senior. Elder was second team and Jefferies was 1st team. Not sure where they played their grade school ball.

Interestingly enough, Male's Marcus Green also plays in the AFL for the same team as Rabatin, but apparently he was placed on "refused to report" on 2/13. Anyone know what he's up to?

Well, Will Rabatin, 2000 graduate, is playing in the AFL for the Columbus Destroyers and was named to the All-Rookie team last year after starting all 16 games at center. If I remember correctly, Chris Burke's senior year, the baseball team was undefeated and ranked #1 in the state and was nationall ranked, but lost the first game in the tourney to Ballard in a huge upset.
