tcjkbt Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Any stats? How did the game go? Sounds like a pretty big win for the Rocks.
CentreRocks Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 Tyler Stephan was on the hill for the Rocks. He went the distance, striking out 9 and only allowing 5 hits. St. X seems to be in hitting slump, maybe because of facing good pitchers. Barry returned for Trinity today and was an added lift.
Park1221 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Stephan was very good for the Rocks. Two X errors resulted in three runs for the Rocks which proved to be the difference. Trinity looked like the better team.

Did you send this post from your Blackberry??? I thought you were all about Football I am very disappointed?? I did not see that you covered the Lacrosse game last week…O yeah X won. Will you be covering the T X tennis and track meeting later this spring and assume that is only if T wins. :thumb:

jimmyref Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Good luck to you TIGER1990. :thumb: I'm flattered that you track my posts. Best of luck to Coach Tompkins the rest of the way. By the way for the Trinity faithful, he's won 76% of the games since he started 6 years ago and has made at least the regional semifinals the last 4 years. Somebody lock him up and reward him. If the Rocks play like that every game, they will go far. If the Tigers play like they did yesterday, they may not win another game. Get healthy Tigers!!

I understand there were 7 Seniors sitting on the bench for the Tigers and some of the Xavier faithful are not happy about it. JJ has the support of the school president (his personal choice for the position). I do understand the Tigers did not throw their ace yesterday. Stephan is the Rocks best. Trinity should not get the big head, defeating Dunbar (#4)and St. X (#3) on consecutive days as the Carroll County loss during Spring Break cannot be erased. 7th Region remains one of the tougher tournies to win.

Thanks he's a great coach (and alum) and we're lucky to have him. Anytime you can beat the #23 team in the Nation you've got to be happy. I think St. X will be able to win a few more games even if they play like they did yesterday. Who was injured for X yesterday and didn't play?
Xtiger69 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 The Tigers are going to try a new route to the title this year, lose the regular season game and win in the playoffs.

One split a finger before the game but still played, another tweaked a groin on Saturday and probably shouldn't played and it showed besides the starting left fielder and best hitter ( IMHO ) is still out with an ankle. No excuses-Trinity outplayed X and looked better in execution.

If the seniors were better, they would be on the field. Last year, we played seniors because they were seniors and we started 8-7. Once the juniors got more playing time, the ship righted itself. 14-3 means JJ must be doing something right. Our ace is slotted for the district game against Male on Wednesday which is a more important game in the scheme of things.
Orca1 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Jimmie, I'm not a follower of X baseball but am interested in the 7th region. I'm trying to understand your post. You say that last years JRS. straigtened the ship for X. Why are they sitting THIS year. Doesn't seem to make sense unless the younger kids are even better then the ship righters. BTW X and T appear strong(privates) Ballard and Eastern are the frontrunners for the publics

He hits with power and average and is sorely missed by the Tigers. I'm not sure who the other seniors are that are dinged up but I think all the juniors who started last year are starters this year, ie. Brinkman, Zoeller, Scheler, and Clark.
