St. Xavier KY's top Athletic Program in '07-'08

Featured Replies

Congrats to the Tigers for taking the crown back as the top overall athletic program in the state last year according to SI. It's amazing how many of the top 25 have small enrollments.

Top department in KY for '07-'08

We need to get air riflery started around here so we can challenge that #1 team from Hawaii!

25. St. Xavier (Louisville) Enrollment: 1,431

St. X marked the spot atop the awards podium in both soccer and swimming and diving. On the football field, the all-boys school lost to intra-city rival Trinity in the 6A title game.

I especially enjoy reading the last line!:dancingpa

I'm very happy with how the year has gone this far. I suppose Bowling and Lacrosse are considered offsetting club sport champions:cool:

1. Punahou (Honolulu) Enrollment: 1,732

The Buff 'n Blue won 16 state titles in sports ranging from boys' air riflery to girls' canoe paddling to wrestling to girls' water polo; 12 seniors received Division I athletic scholarships.

Congratulations! On a side note, I had no idea Louisville St X was 50% larger than Cinti St X. I would have guessed it was the other way around.

Congratulations St.X Tigers! Do it again next year!

We have to let them win something sometime. I think the Air Rifle thing might be an idea worth considering. I think there may be some left over

"$20.'s"..to help them with equipment purchases to get started.

That's almost funny considering the disparity in titles between the two schools.

Cincy St. X must have reported 10th through 12th grade estimate. The OHSAA webiste shows their enrollment at 1173.

Yep, those swimming titles really help bring in the donations. :D

It is nice to see the number of private schools who made the SI list. :thumb:

It also should be a goal for the athletic programs to shoot for annually.

X should be congratulated on their accomplishment, but this is the High School "FOOTBALL" Forum. Soccer and swimming discussions should be posted elsewhere. That is where the disparity exists.

Do students at St X have a uniform? It would be awful to go to an all boys school and have to dress up everyday. I think I would prefer jogging pants and a t-shirt.

No uniform, but a dress code. Khaki/dress pants with ties and dress shoes. Seniors can wear polos on Fridays. No facial hair (must dry shave at school if you have any stubble) and hair can't be below the ears.

The purpose of the dress code is to promote an atmosphere for learning. Several of the publics in Jefferson are going to dress codes, and with some elementaries, even uniforms. The polos must bear a St. X logo. Also, no sagging pants, etc. I'm sure you get the picture.
