Unsung Heroes on your team!
bricklayer replied to U Reach I Teach's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I would have to agree on this one. When things are slipping for the Lady Royals it seems like Chambers always stays consistant and gets big rebounds when they need them. -

Brooke Colliver would probably have to be an unsung hero on Montgomery Co.'s team. She comes off the bench in games that the Lady Indians may have match up problems inside and provides a good spark and some big stops. -
Best sophomores in the 10th?

For a lot of these programs that have all the success with veteran players, it is only because they learned the ropes very young (as middleschoolers) and by the time they are juniors and seniors they know how to win. -

The Mustang's definately have the opportunity to spoil some hopes down the stretch. I know all the coaches in the region realize their potential but I think it will be tough to keep the players focused enough not to look past Brossart. -

I am going to go out on a limb here and make Clark Co. my pick to take the 10th Region Tourny. Maybe not a big stretch but I believe they have the players that can do it as long as a few key players keep their heads on straight on and off the court between now and tourny time. -
This region is almost too crazy to put a ranking on. It seems as if any of about 6 or 7 teams can win or lose to anyone on any given night. Should be a very interesting regional tourny.
-
This also depends on the who is playing. If you have one team that constantly attacks the basket and another that plays on the perimeter you would expect the team attacking the basket to shot a greater number of foul shots.

Where is the 14th region tourny being played this year?

Montgomery Co. 77 Fleming Co. 36

Thanks for the help on her name. She is a nice player and she carries Fleming Co. I believe she was 1-1 on 3pt. shots in this game. -

Has Troy returned to the sidelines yet in Rowan Co.? -

Looks like the Lady Royals are beginning to roll at the right time. This is another big when for them against a 9th region contender. I believe that controlling the tempo of games will be key for Mason Co. come tourny time. -

The Lady Indians looked pretty good in this one. They got some shots to fall from a couple different people and Lee had a really good game from the point. I was impressed with Flemings big girl in the middle(not sure of the name), I believe she had Fleming's first 15 pts. of the game getting here 1,000 pt. in the process. -
Lexington Catholic 57 Clay Co 48

From the sounds of things if it was played at Clay Co., one of the toughest places in the state to get W no matter who you are, it would have been an impressive win for the Tigers. (If's and but's I know, just a little hypothetical thinking.) -
I have never thought about it like that. I think that is a very good point and it still wouldn't be as much as I've paid to watch some tournaments elsewhere!

You can't be serious! I hope that was a joke.

Best Manager in 10th Region
bricklayer replied to BEARFACTS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Thomas Conlee and Rashauna Jones respectively for the boys and the girls teams at Montgomery Co. Both of them have been with the teams for at least three years. They don't miss practice and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.:thumb: -

Yes her sister Whitney Lee was a dandy playing under the basket. She was one of the key players as a junior when Montgomery Co. fell to E-town in the state championship. This was all after Beth Vice had the season ending knee injury. -

Mackenzie Lee-Montgomery Co. -
I agree. Should make for a very good first round matchup. I think this Sweet 16 has a potential to be one of the best and most competitive throughout than we have seen in a long time on the girls side.

Sacred Heart /Montgomery Co. Predictions
bricklayer replied to bricklayer's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
A homer job may be a little extreme to say that is the only way Montgomery has a chance in this one. Their are all kinds of factors that could play into this one without the refs. Montgomery Co.'s new gym is extremely spacious which gives some teams trouble shooting, travel time for Sacred Heart may also be an issue the way Montgomery Co. likes to get up and down the court. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about officiating if the Lady Indians come out on top of this one. It will be a good measuring stick for them either way. I will call this one a toss up for Sacred Heart on the road. -
I don't believe having 4 goods teams in a region makes a bracket any stronger. Scott Co. and Lex. Cath in the 11th doesn't make the bottom any stronger. Only one of these teams can make it from their respective regions, all the others will be spectators.

Portwood hit some big 3's every time HHS got any momentum in the second half. This kid seems like a nice compliment to Mackey and Walls off the bench. Congrats to the Cards and Kentucky Basketball as a whole.

I believe that it is just the opposite. I believe that who ever comes out of the 7th will walk to Saturday Night and that the teams in the bottom half of the bracket will beat up on each other pretty much the entire way. Could be an interesting structure. I look forward to seeing things play out down the stretch.
