  1. Good win for Iroquois. May be a humbling experience for them since they may have been overlooking Breathitt Co. Breathitt played well and did everything they could to stay in the game down the stretch. Unforced turnovers and offensive rebounds were the story for Breathitt in this one.
  2. I am not disputing your answer to the second question because frankly I am not sure. But if this is true then how can a team get a timeout after they have a made basket and the other team jumps out of bounds to inbound the ball?
  3. Breathitt has a chance to cut it back to five with a freethrow attempt. Miss. Breathitt rebound and turnover.
  4. Sounds like Breathitt can't quite get back over the hump. They have opportunities, but it sounds like they have stopped getting the ball to Shouse.
  5. This is the same way Breathitt played Montgomery earlier in the season. They got down early, settled down and ended up winning the game...if they hold on here it may be the biggest first round upset possible for the first round.
  6. 4 points already for Iroquois in the second half off of offensive rebounds.
  7. Iroquois has no answer for Shouse. She is just turning and putting it in. She has 12 of Breathitt's points in the first half. If Breathitt could keep Iroquois off the offensive glass this game would have even a wider margin.
  8. Bennet may not make much noise but he really creates matchup problems because you can't leave him on defense. He takes some pressure off of Knowles and Jones offensively.
  9. Much like GRC's record right GS. Tournament time may be the first time all season that GRC has been at full strength all season. Jones had been recovering from his broken arm suffered in football season for a lot of the year, Stenzel went out with an ankle injury (I think it was an ankle) for a few games, and Knowles has served a few team suspensions over the course of the season. GRC will be tough to be at full strength, I don't care who they are playing.
  10. I was at this game and being from the 10th region I already knew all about Miller. At the time I wasn't sure about how he would handle the pressure of the championship game, then he came in and hit a three right off the bat, I had no more questions after that.
  11. It is a little easier to fill a basketball roster at a smaller school than it is a football roster. Their are a lot more positions to fill in football that require a lot of different skills. The bigger schools can have 22 different kids that don't have to play both offense and defense in the same school. 4A schools may have 60 or 70 kids come out and they can fill all the positions individually. 1A schools may only have 20 kids come out so they have to play their kids on both side of the ball. This makes a single class in football totally uneven. All it takes in basketball is 8. Only 5 can play at a time and both teams play the same kids on offense and defense. The point that I'm getting at is that classifying football is not a reason to justify classifying basketball!!!!
  12. I totally agree with you here. It is almost like people say it is too hard to get to the Sweet Sixteen so the KHSAA should make it easier for us. This takes every thing that is special about Kentucky Basketball and shatters it. I have been at schools that have had teams make runs to the All "A" finals and to the Sweet Sixteen. There were more people in Rupp to watch these boys play in the 1st round of the Sweet Sixteen than their were at the All "A" State Championship. This shows the level of importance people in Kentucky place on the Sweet Sixteen!!!
  13. I can confirm this without any doubt. Coach High will be retiring from coaching at the end of the season.
  14. A standing ovation in church. That is amazing and gives you chill bumps just reading about it. Congrats to the Lions. This team will be adopted very quickly by the fans in Rupp especially if they can get by Shelby Valley!! This is what March is all about in Kentucky!!!:dancingpa
  15. I don't even think it would have to be a decent woodshop class. All the new ones are is 4 small pieces of wood glued together. I would trust the woodshop class to come up with something better than what the KHSAA came up with.
  16. I agree with this. There has to be some kind of minimum seatin to host a regional tournament. But there also must be some sort of rotation like you said. The 14th would have trouble with the 3500 minimum because I am pretty sure Breathitt doesn't seat that any more since the renovations 10 or 12 years ago (could be wrong) and I don't know any numbers at Powell but that seems a little generous. I definately agree with your ideas. Any type of rotation is an improvement on no rotation IMO!!!
  17. It just improves odds.:thumb: Tournament time is not a time to be improving odds for the same team year in and year out.
  18. If it meant traveling to get to a neutral site I would be all for it. If the 16th region wasn't played at MSU I think it would be logical and just as convenient geographically than NKU.
  19. I am not disputing anything your saying and you may be in a position to know more about it than I do, but in my personal opinion I would rather have some "cheesy" hardware than some "cheesy" stickers any day.
  20. I also noticed this. Montgomery Co.'s fans gave Mason's girls a standing ovation as they recieved their trophies and Mason returned the gesture as Montgomery recieved theres. I think this was a good crowd showing their appreciation for great basketball. I'm not sure how much the tickets were but it had to be a bargain for this game the way it played it, amazing to say the least. Both teams played their hearts out and everyone of those girls deserved the ovations that they recieved win or lose.
  21. I heard this number also, and for anyone who has been in the gym I think they would testify that this can't be right. If it is right then their are a whole lot of gyms across the state with really distorted capacities including the Fieldhouse.
  22. Does anyone have numbers from the girls championship that was held in Mt. Sterling Saturday night?
  23. Pretty sure tonight was the Semi's in the 14th. Hazard beat KCC. 14th Region Championship: JBS vs. Hazard
