Nice Article in Lex Herald on their first ever trip to the sweet sixteen. That is what makes the Sweet Sixteen so special. That is why Ky High School Basketball does not need to go to a class system. It is a special event. Congrats to Elliot Co.

It's an exclusive event for sure. So many never get the opportunity...but then again, that's what makes it so special.

I have ALWAYS rooted for the 16th region at the State Tourney....no matter who it was. This year, for the first time ever, I get to cheer for my team.

It feels good.

I heard a awesome saying at the game last night

COWBOY UP BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO RUPP

Good for you. Best of luck to Elliott Co. The first time is always so special.

This year's "feel good" story! Love it! It should get ESPN attention.

A feel good story indeed and to Rupp we go. Good idea about ESPN , maybe if we get enough press from wymt - tv and wsaz - tv we can make it !:dancingpa Party hardy Lions .

Sure a fun team to watch.:dancingpa

I played - many moons ago - almost 30 years - against Coach Rick Mays. He had a team in 1978 that was considered a 'favorite' but a regional tournament upset by Rowan Co. squashed the dream (this was Rocky Adkin's senior season). He is a legend in the 16th Region and I'm so happy to see him accomplish this dream. Congrats to Coach Mays!!

Truly a great article. On a side note,it is a shame that two Rose Hill posters started bickering with each other and got the Ashalnd-Elliott County thread closed. It would have been nice for once to discuss a 16th region game without a Rose Hill conflict shutting it down.:fight:

A standing ovation in church. That is amazing and gives you chill bumps just reading about it. Congrats to the Lions. This team will be adopted very quickly by the fans in Rupp especially if they can get by Shelby Valley!!

This is what March is all about in Kentucky!!!:dancingpa

Elliott County winning the 16th Region and going to play in Rupp for a State Title is what makes high school sports so much fun. There is nothing like seeing kids set goals for themselves and then achieve them.

The Lions young talent is what makes this story so interesting. For a team this young to come together as one is an indication of the character of the kids and their coaches ability. Good luck at Rupp and I hope you bring home a State Championship.
