As I have said elsewhere, I know he will give it his best shot. I have a s trong feeling he will be on the floor and will play his usual tough game.

Congrats to Elliott for cracking top 20. I'm not sure if they are THAT good but it is nice to see a 16th Region team in there and to see the Lions getting little statewide attention with the starters being all sophmores.

Games played in the same season with the same players and coaches are a much more relevant barometer than the 1960 or 1976 or 1996 or 2000 whatever team did. However it does not predict in many cases who will win the next game. You must factor in revenge, injuries, lineup changes, momemtum and such. At any rate Russell, Ashland and Elliott County appear to be the favorites right now, in no particular order.

Running is a great form of punishment and it would be a rare coach who crossed the line, and I agree with Wireman...bleacher stairs are a necessity. I hated when I was a player, loved it when I was a coach. A well conditioned, disciplined team usually comes out on top on the court and off the court.

The game was over sooner than that. Elliott controlled this one from the start. It wasn't the officials and it wasn't a hard foul. It was good team offense and defense flat out whipping a team that did not seem to be prepared or in synch at all.

I can't argue with that except to say that Elliott has played very solid since the lineup change, which occured a few weeks after the 3 point loss to Russell. I think either team could beat the other on any given night and it would be another great game.

I guess we will wait and see. I wish him a speedy and full recovery. He is a great kid and remarkable player with a ton of heart.

If I know Ferguson, and I do, he will be on the floor in Richmond.

I agree with the rankings, but Russell may not be as clear cut #1 as you post. Elliott is playing very solid basketball right now and would be a tough matchup again for Russell.

Man, get beat by 29 and gripe about refs. :cry: Greenup County was not impressive in any way. I was looking forward to a good game and only one team played it. Big win for Elliott and Greenup's got a lot more problems than officiating.

A good list, but it is hard to ignore Euton and Jackson.

Please refer to Post 15. That is why the game was postponed. That is the only reason. It is cooperation between the schools. No one is afraid to play anyone and Elliott County is in school today.

No problems on that team. Those kids get along great.

Fairview and Elliott have scheduled this way for a few years to help each other out. If one goes to state they just reschedule. See, some schools can get along and help each other out. It works to each school's benefit over time.

Looks like the 16th is catching up.

Elliott does an excellent job of dribble penetration and kicking the ball out. I have seen little if any selfishness on this team. They play great together and every player has a good understanding of their role. Granted there are some bad shots taken. What high schooler doesn't take a bad one sometimes? I think some posters are seeing problems that simply do not exist.

Russell's defense just seems to keep them from losing. I would like to see Dodd turn those kids loose on offense just to see what would happen. They are long and athletic. A running Russell team might even be better than they are now. The Elliott County-Russell game was very enertaining for the fans and the score got into the 70's.

When does 15th region play All-A regional?

Apparently they are not based on much of anything if you can get a ranking without a school or team.

For some reason Rose Hill's boys team dropped Elliott County last year. It robbed fans of a good matchup.

Ashland will win by 5-10 points. I guess us little guys get tired of reading how Ashland dominates the 16th. They are always strong, but any current, unbiased basketball person can see the domination no longer exists and there are a few of the other little schools that can play with the Tomcats. All of those wins are indicative of a historically great program, but they do not mean much at gametime now.
