Mercer County girls basketball coach Chris Souder also brought an interesting tidbit to my attention. Harrodsburg is ranked 17th in the 12th Region in the Girls' Litkenhous Ratings in the Courier-Journal - and has dropped a few spots from earlier in the season. Of course, Harrodsburg doesn't even have a team this year.

 

 

"Whatever faith I had in the ratings is out the window. I thought it was supposed to be based on strength of schedule, records and so on. Just thought you might find interesting," Souder said.

 

 

It's more than interesting. It's inexcusable that by late January any ratings would still have a team included that has not played a game and doesn't even exist.

 

 

You would think that by now someone would have found this out?

Unbelievable and goes to show that rankings don't mean squat.

I feel sorry for the team that Harrodsburg is ranked ahead of. I guess 49.8 is pretty good for a team that doesn't exist.

How do they base these rankings? I just looked at the ninth region, and there is a team on there that doesn't exist, as well as a team that is ranked below 4 teams that they beat. ???

Apparently they are not based on much of anything if you can get a ranking without a school or team.
