Brossart has every right to host this tournament when it's their turn. Just because 4 other teams chose not to host doesn't make Brossart selfish! I really don't think a $3.00 parking fee should prevent anyone from attending this tournament. The students will probably have 4-6 in their cars when they come, which would be 50-75 cents each. I'm sure they will put on a tournament that the players and fans will really like. I think the real problem is most teams/fans don't want to travel to NoKy for this tournament, which is may be legit. NoKy is a 9th region area geographically. However, Brossart was placed in the 10th Region by the KHSAA and they have to play with the hand they were dealt. I'm sure Brossart is proud of how they will conduct this tournament, as they will do a great job.

It's sure not turnovers off the press! Those are few and far between. It's definitely not layups or the % would be much better. They NEED to create turnovers off the press and get easy layups or it's going to be a long year since their shooting % is so poor. Right now, the press is a soft press used to create tempo and wear down the opponent. It needs to be an aggressive trapping press to create offense off the defense IMO. They have plenty of personale to play this style. They have played 12 or 13 guys every game with very little drop off.

Burger did not play. He, Fortner & Thompson sat out this game for playing in an unauthorized league game this summer.

Yes, they wouldn't object if every entity that uses the field now could still use it. That's the problem. HC wants to be able to control who uses the field if they pour all the time and money into it. Covington can't go along with that since Holmes, knothole, Holy Name, etc.,etc. have to use the field. I don't know if they can ever work it out or not, but I wish they could. It works great at Rosedale park.

Neither school bought the field. I wish they could! The city of Cov. owns and maintains Meinken, which is a joke. It's been that way for years. It's very embarassing for both schools to host games there, especially the district tournament. They had an old school bus sitting there for years which looked like a prison bus. It was finally moved this year. It took them two years to build the little concession building and it's STILL not open. The scoreboard hasn't worked for years. I can't speak for Holmes, but I guarantee you if HC could oversee the field, it would be a great place to play baseball. HC was able to do this at the old Rosedale Park and now have one of the finest grass soccer fields in the area on the same ground that was the old Bill Cappel ball fields.

Funeral arrangements- Lay out Sunday from 3 to 8 at Scott High School (assume this would be in the gym), funeral at 10AM Monday at St. Pat's in Independence.

Wasn't '75-that year NCC beat HC in double OT. Wasn't '76-that year Holmes beat HC in finals. I guess it could've been '77 although Schlomer was a freshman in the 74-75 season.

Wow! This is probably the upset of the year in the state without a doubt then.

Just curious as to who Bethlehem pitched. I know they have two fine pitchers but I can't remember their names. Did they gamble and save them since Bardstown only had 2 wins and Bethlehem beat them so handily during the season?

WOW! Congratulations to the Holmes Bulldogs, 2009 Kentucky STATE CHAMPIONS! The monkey is finally off the 35th District and ninth regions back! '78, '90 & '08 Bulldogs, '67 Colonels & '65 Indians couldn't win the big one but these Bulldogs did the job. Great job by the players and coaching staff. How appropriate it was to look down and see Bud Wimzie and Dicky Beal celebrating with the team since the championship was stolen from them in '78! Central head coach Doug Bibby showed nothing but class after the game also. He and his team are to be commended for a great game and carrying themselves with class throughout the game and afterwards!
