I thought HC would struggle in this game.

I heard Hightchew had a good game and the football rust is shaking off.

Once NewCath gets their FBall players into game shape they will be a tough team. They will be a grind it out, low post oriented team. If they can trap athletic teams into their game, which tends to happen tournament time, anything can happen.

In any game without looking at the final score, if your team has more FG attempts, more FT attempts, and less turnovers, who do you think wins the game? More often than not, I choose the team with those credentials. However, that was not the case in this game. Box score forthcoming.

More stats from the game: Arlinghaus - 5 assists. Giesler - 22 rebounds, including 13 in the 1st half, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Hightchew - 6 assists.

 

The scoring of this game was much like the Boone County game. The Indians came out cold and were down at one point in the 2nd Qtr 24-4. Halftime score was 28-10. The lead was cut to 9 at 4:24 left in the game, but that was as close as we got.

HC shot 24% from field and 32% from FT line.....might be the worst I have ever seen in a HS game, especially with them getting 54 attempts. Where do the Indians get their points? Off turnovers on the press, layups?

It's sure not turnovers off the press! Those are few and far between.

They NEED to create turnovers off the press and get easy layups or it's going to be a long year since their shooting % is so poor. Right now, the press is a soft press used to create tempo and wear down the opponent. It needs to be an aggressive trapping press to create offense off the defense IMO. They have plenty of personale to play this style. They have played 12 or 13 guys every game with very little drop off.

HC was 7-22 from the free throw line? I know what Coach will be working on with his group next practice.

Teams that thrive on getting points in transition and off turnovers, must first score for their press to be effective.

 

Missing 15 free throws means ATLEAST 7 less opportunities to pressure the opposition.
