They compete in the Patriot League along with American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, LaFayette, Lehigh & Navy. Coach Koz's first D1 signee! Small school (2700 students) that competes at a high level vs other D1 schools. Eric is used to the small school atmosphere coming from HC. Should be a great fit for a great kid.

I'm sure the floor would be insured. There is no way the districts would be played there this year. Whenever insurance is involved in these things, they get in no hurry at all. Also, the flooring company will insist on dehumidifying and totally drying out the floor underneath the wood, especially if it is concrete. This will all take months, not weeks. They will probably be fortunate if they have the floor ready in time for next years pre season practice.

St Henry ALWAYS plays well in the All A. I don't know if they can beat UHA, but I know they will play them tough.

Being at the game last night, I too, felt like Beechwood pretty much shut Sorrell down. Then I realize he got 19 points, 14 rebounds & 3 assists all the while being the total focus of Beechwood's defense. 7/16 FG, 3/4 3P & 2/2 FT. This really affirms how good he really is, when he puts up numbers any other player in the region can only dream of, and we think he was "shut down". You are correct, the rest of the HC team MUST score along with Sorrell & Giwa or they will be beaten.

True, the staff weren't the ones not setting the picks, but they're the ones responsible for seeing that the picks get set and the plays are run the way they want them run. If the players on the floor aren't setting the picks, they need to adjust by sitting them down and putting someone on the floor who can and will set the picks. There's nothing like taking a seat for a while to inspire you to do exactly what the coach wants!

Perfect observation. HC coaching staff has to adjust accordingly and did not.

Beechwood pulls off the big win in the All A! Tigers hold Sorrell to 19 points & hold Indians to 41% from the field and 26% from 3 pt land. Tigers hit 55% from the field & 42% from 3pt. Beechwood- Hall 18, Beuttel 13 & Romes 12 HC- Sorrell 19, Giwa 15 & Eastin 9. Close game throughout until Beechwood pulls away in the 4th quarter.

It's pretty obvious that both Henderson & Sorrell are great players. Either one is probably worthy of POY honors. There's still a lot of season left, we'll see what happens. Just for the record, Henderson ALONE did not shut Sorrell down. He shadowed him all night and as soon as Sorrell received the ball he was swarmed by two or three Holmes defenders. It was not like he shut him down one on one. Not trying to take anything away from his defense, but it was a TEAM effort that night.

Sure was! None of those threes touched the rim! Everyone around me kept asking why #22 was on the bench even though they were glad he was. I was glad HC won, but I sure was happy to see Trevor drain those threes!

Colonels balanced scoring attack too much for the Indians. Sorrell plays like a POY candidate. CCH- Schmerge 21, Roll 14, Maile & Shover 11, & Grimes 8 HC- Sorrell 15/21 FG, 3/5 3P, 4/5 FT, 13 rebounds and 37 points. CCH 53% from the field & 53% from 3P 10 of 26 FG's were threes HC- 49% from the field & 22% from 3P 4 of 18 from 3P As usual, great atmosphere for a regular season game.

Henderson is one of the top defenders in the state. However, he alone did not hold Sorrell to mimium points. The whole Bulldog team did. Henderson shadowed Sorrell and as soon as he received the ball Holmes swarmed all over him. As Ryan Ernst mentioned in his blog, Sorrell will be seeing Dawgs in his sleep! Great defensive effort by Holmes. This Bulldog team, at least last night, is scary good. They play great defense, they're patient and deliberate on offense, and seem to be a disiplined group. I don't ever recall a Holmes team having all three of these qualities. On the other hand, this is high school basketball. On another night, under different circumstances, things could be different. It's just one game in a long season.

Newport outrebounded HC 38-36 but also had 21 turnovers. They hit 10/12 free throws and shot 33% from the field with only 1 three pointer. They played OK but HC just played better tonight. HC will find out Friday night if their tough schedule has paid off thus far or not.

According to the BGP Basketball Preview, Manual "has to be considered one of the states top ten teams". That is what I based my comment on. HC plays Henry Clay @ Henry Clay & Lincoln Co. @ Henry Clay the next two nights.

HC hangs tough to the end vs one of states top teams at the Defenders of the Station Tournament in Lexington. Corey Sorrell-43 points.

NCC plays 7 guys and dresses only eight, but it's enough to whip the Indians. Jeramie Conner lights it up with 10 three pointers and 33 points. NCC just wanted this game more, they played with a lot of heart, grit & passion. None of Conner's threes were contested! How can a guy hit so many threes and not have a man in his face all over him? NCC hit 12 threes to HC's one. HC was 4/17 from the free throw line in the second half and 10/24 for the game. Good ole' fashion butt whippin' by NCC's players and coaches!

The blueprint was simply a 2-3 zone with a lot of pressure on Sorrell & Giwa. Until HC learns to attack the zone or someone else steps up offensively, they will struggle. I'm sure they worked hard on attacking the zone the last two days of practice though. I'm confident they'll be a totally different team offensively tonight than they were the last half of Saturday's game. HC/NCC is always a good game and tonight should be no different.

Boone's new scoreboard shows the five current players for both teams and their point totals. There were NUMEROUS substituitons in this game. I have no idea how the poor guy at the scorer's table kept up so well. It is very hectic trying to continually switch all those numbers and point totals so quickly while under constant stress. I wonder how long they'll keep this feature!

Sheena Giwa of HC scored the first ever basket in the new gym. Giwa had 26 pts and Sorrell had 23 for HC, McFarland led the Rebels with 16. Boone led early and HC finally got the lead late in the first quarter or early second quarter. HC dominated throughout the middle of the game, leading by 20 at one point 62-42 I think. It was all Boone Co after that point. It seemed like HC tired a little and Corey Sorrell was spending time on the bench with 4 fouls. The Indians hung on though and won by the final margin of 6 pts. I have no idea if missing football players had an impact or not.

He has no desire to play football or basketball. Just has no interest. Didn't even try out for basketball this year. Probably hasn't liked sports all along, but with that big body and having a sister who's a star basketball player, I guess he always felt pressure to play. Also, he never played for John Fortner's AAU teams.
