In an outstanding game that neither team deserved to lose, CovCath came out on top by a score of 1-0. Both CovCath Warning and HC Ritter threw gems. CovCath came out on top this time but the young men of Holy Cross have no reason to hang their heads with this loss. Good luck HC.

The Good: Adam "wasn't the 100 pitch count man" Warning tonight as he only threw 81 pitches but from the mound and at the bat.... Adam "The Wonderful" was outstanding! Add Brett Stayton to the list of good as "Lazarus" went 2 for 3 (2 doubles) and had the game winning rbi. Add the CovCath "D" and you have the reason why CovCath won. As I have said all season, give me great pitching, good "D" and you can always find a way to score a run.

 

The Bad and The Ugly: Being very picky but you have to start knocking in those men when they get in scoring position. CovCath left 7 on bases and of those seven LOB, 6 of them were in scoring position.

 

 

Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: Top of the first and CovCath is at bat. Reese goes 6-3 for the first out. Warning gets on via a single and Klein walks on five pitches. Men on first and second and one out. Stayton at the plate and hits a rope for a double scoring Nienaber who was CR for Warning for a run and game winning run.

Sounds like CCH's 'ACE' pitched a whale of a game.

Another close but great win for Cov Cath. I would still not overlook Holmes if Courtney is throwing as he has kept them in some games against very good competition.

HC ran them self out of the sixth ining and it might have cost them the game. There was on out Broering was on first when Tiberi drilled a double to the wall. Broering was waved on and was out by at least 30 feet. HC would have had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. With that said CCH played a nearly perfect game and absolutely deserved to win this game.

Adam Warning pitched a heck of a game. Any more doubters he is their "ace" now? Hats off to Stayton he killed the ball and had some big hits.

 

Adam Warning made the "play of the game" IMO, when #23 for HC hit a ball up the middle and Adam knocked the ball down with his hand and made the out. If he doesn't then the runner on second scores and its a tie game.

 

Also HC ran themselves out of 2 innings. That hurt them big time. Congrats to CCH on a huge win in a great game.

CovCath top of the 2nd and CovCath is leading 1-0: Siemer get on via a single, Severson sac bunts Siemer to 2nd one out man on 2nd base. Stein lays down a bunt and all are safe. Men on 1st and 3ed one out. Reese at the plate and hits into a 4-6-3 DP to end the inning. Great play for the HC second basemen.

 

CovCath top of the 4th and CovCath is leading 1-0: Martin is the first batter and he hits a double to straight away CF. Man on second no outs. Siemer is up to sac but the HC pitcher throws a WP and Martin moves to third. Man on third no outs. Ritter gets Siemer to go 6-3 then coaxes Severson to U-4 and finally gets Stein to go U-9.

Man on third and Ritter doesn't allow a ball to be hit to the outfield until the last batter of the inning.

 

Bottom of the third CovCath is leading 1-0: Kohake goes U-6 one out. Broering gets on via a single. Man on first one out. Roenker hits a ball up the middle but Stein is there to round up the ball while touching second base and then throws out Roenker at first for the DP.

 

Bottom of the 5th CovCath leading 1-0: Ritter get on via a single and Guidugli sac bunts Ritter to second. One out man on second. Jasper goes U-5 now two outs and man on second. Kohake then hits a rope right up the middle straight at Warning and Adam using his throwing hand knocks the ball down, runs to his left to get the ball, then throws a strike to get the runner out at 1st to end the inning.

 

Bottom of the 6th CovCath leading 1-0: Broering the first batter in the inning gets on via a single. Roenker goes U-9, one out man on first. Young Mr. Tiberi hits a rocket to the deepest part of CF for a double but Senior Neal Martin runs the ball down and make an outstanding throw to Siemer who then threw the ball in time to throw out the HC runner by a mile. Warning is pumped and goes on to punch out (K) the next batter Egan to end the inning.
