  1. Lee and Owsley combined would still be one of the smallest in the state, around 12000 or 13000 population. I really dont see much growth for either, as both are off the beaten path.
  2. All kidding aside, Drug Courts have proven to be an effective tool in the struggle against drug addiction. They empasize personal responsibility, and although a backslider always suffers consequences, those that have successes and show progress always are positively reinforced. There will always be failures, but as Atticus will agree, sometimes it is absolutely amazing who succeeds. Please support local Drug Courts. It is one of the most positive programs I have seen in my nearly thirty year career with the criminal justice system.
  3. According to very unofficial reports, this kid is strong rebounder and shot blocker. If he is as advertised, Lee will not have a starter under six feet, so size is not an issue. Charles will score. Gus Wise and Tyler Campbell are willing to mix it up with anybody, and both can shoot and play defense. My concern is point guard, a spot where they have been relatively strong the past few seasons,. If that spot works out, the Bobcats should be very good, and can make some noise at the regional level.
  4. If you go to the Davidson College website, you will find that this is not true. One does apply for a student loan as part of the admission process, but whatever government backed loan is approved is then converted to a grant awarded by the College, which is never required to be repaid. The purpose is to ensure that no student ever graduates with a debt as the result of student loans. And you will make it out in four years or most likely not at all.
  5. I am one proud Wildcat. These guys have given my old alma mater priceless exposure. I know this site is primarily about school sports and a lot of high school students visit here regularly. Please, you guys looking at this board that are up to living with a Code of Honor that places complete trust in your personal integrity, satisying rigorous academic standards, dealing with a faculty of distinguished scholars that will follow your progress by knowing you personally, and even having your laundry done for you, give Davidson a look. You might even get an all expenses paid trip to the Final Four some day, courtesy of the Board of Trustees.
  6. Win or lose, this has been the ride of a lifetime for those of us that love Davidson College and what it stands for. That being said, haven't I read before that Gonzaga was just too good, Geoergetown had too much talent, and Wisconsin had too much defense?
  7. Atticus, as you know I hold degrees from two of the schools remaining in the Elite 8. I will be happy to help you in what must be a most difficult time for you, as I often do in many other situations in which you find yourself. With Kentucky on the sidelines, maybe a loan of one of my old Davidson t-shirts (you could use it as one of those gowns you look so good in) or my U of L baseball cap would help ease the pain.:jump:
  8. The Badcat has more than a tear today. My beloved WILDCATS areheaded for Detroit, and hopefully, me too!
  9. Brings a tear to the old badcat's eye. first tournament win since 1969. a DAVIDSON MAN needs no introduction.
  10. Just heard games for tonight canceled. Not sure of reshceduling. If anyone does, please post.
  11. Lee won at Lee at buzzer, Powell won at Powell in OT.
  12. bballking is taking some unwarranted grief here. I don't see him making any excuses about the Lee/Estill game.
  13. I dont blame the referees for Lee losing the Hazard game, in fact my point is the same as yours. Too many excuses.
  14. I agree with you 100%, and Owsley is my 2nd favorite team, after Lee. I look forward to coming on here and seeing a thread, "we tried hard, we did our best, but we lost fair and square".
  15. If Lee had lost, Bobcat fans would have been here claiming that "video proved undoubtedly that Pelphrey got fouled hard" on what, at the time , appeared to be Lee's last chance, or that "the last inbounds play looked like a rugby scrum", and both claims would have been legit. I'll say what I said to Bobcat fans after Lee lost in a similar way to Hazard in a game that, it now appears, could very well have cost them the All A Regional, and that is, chill out people. You can find an unlimited number of situations that could change the game. If Estill folks are checking the video, they might want to look at Estill's coach breaking and throwing that clipboard into a crowd of people, that included Estill's cheerleaders, not to mention the old Badcat. Now that could have hurt someone.
  16. Aaron Charles hit a 3 at horn in a wild finish. Neither team led by more than four at any time during game.
  17. boy girl double-header. Lee girls play Cordia afterwards. Just called LCHS and confirmed. Better spread word diehard.
  18. Just got back from irvine, and not everyone knew that game time for boy's game is SIX P.M. Would be bummer to drive down, and game be over. Lee by 3.
  19. By the way, I have now seen all teams in 55th, and Breathitt looks best.
  20. Lee should have pulled away when they had the lead, but the technical really hurt, and Breathitt really hit boards hard. Lee is good at home, but seems to struggle on the road. The game against Estill should be a dandy, since it as at Lee.
  21. Lee is a really much better team than most think, and is unusually good at home. I was not at the game, but I know one of the referee's well, he is a good friend and I cannot image that he would deliberately favor one team over another. Lighten up, fellow Bobcat fans.
  22. The thing about the Lee-Owsley rivalry is that when you go to the game at either gym, it is full of people you are related to, done business with or just been friends with all your life. The Professor loves the Owls, and the Lee County games at the old gym in Beattyville that I have missed in the last 20-30 years you can count on one hand. The thought of falling out him and other good people from Booneville over the outcome of a basketball game is just unthinkable! I've known them too long for that. Sometimes the kids forget that just a little, but us old timers know better.
