I would hate to see Coach Wright resign after one disappointing season. He's done an outstanding job with Lee's program over the years. I hope this is just a rumor.

Coach Wright needs to step back, take a deep breath, recognize that the fact that he has been asked to reconsider is a good thing, (apparantly those in charge recognize he is a talented young coach), realize that in his chosen profession, (like most), there are times when you will be criticized, (sometimes wrongly, sometimes not), chalk up disappointments like Tuesday night in the lessons learned column, and then decide what he wants to do. If he still wants to quit, fine. That's his business. But I hope he doesn't make a rash decision he regrets later.

He is a classy guy with a lot of heart and his kids love him. He would be an asset to any program but I hope he would reconsider and not just react with his heart. He has done a great job at Lee and has renewed some great rivalries. He has had some good years and one disappointment doesn't change the good job he has done in Beattyville. He has heart, drive, desire and his own unique style. Just what every program is looking for.

I watched Danny Wright coach a game against Garrard County in a tournament his first year on the job (he hadn't coached more than five games ever) and he looked hopelessly lost. Just didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing.

A year later I watched him coach Lee County in the All "A" region tournament and was amazed at how much better he was on the sidelines.

Last year I watched him coach at the All "A" in Richmond, and while his team lost, he was even better. Its hard to believe how much he has improved as a coach over the years. Hopefully he'll stick with the program because all programs need stability.

Hate to see him leaving but after talking to one Beatyville faithful then its true. I know Lee got upset but was the favorite and Lee's program has improved tremendously in hte past couple years. I read on here that his record in the past 4 years is 61-50, but Im sure that if you look at the previous 4 years then its half the wins and double the losses.Im a Coach Wright fan eventhough I just cant see myself cheering for Lee, just an old distric rival.

That is a shame. I hope he reconsiders his decision because he will regret this IMO. Most everyone in Lee thinks he is fantastic. Does anyone know why he quit. Was it the result of the game or comments from fans? Or was it something brewing during the entire season?

If I recall, didnt Coach Wright start to resign two years ago when Owsley beat Lee in the first round of the district tournament at Wolfe County? But he chose to come back, the next year he won the district and went to the state All A classic.

It had nothing to do with the game Tuesday. He has started a family and is looking for more time to be the father to his daughter that he has been coach to our boys the last 5 years. He is looking at ways to do both but if he can't give 100% to each he don't want to let anyone down. He is a great man and coach IMHO.

I would say the 7 seniors leaving has a lot to do with it! He was a great coach and got some things done, just the right time for him to get out!

You have no idea what you are talking about. It had nothing to do with the graduation of some players. Lee is still well stocked for runs the next couple of years.

Lee County had an excellent JV team this year. The Charles kid will be a force in the region in the next couple of years. As well as getting Pelphrey back healthy for a whole season.
