If he doesnt return, I think that Coach Angel is an excellent choice to replace him. He has helped coach Wright for several years and his JV teams have been good not to mention the kids play their heart out for him.

I agree. I think Coach Angel would be an excellent choice.

But Coach Wright should reconsider. He has done a wonderful job rebuilding the Lee County program.

If I recall, didnt Coach Wright start to resign two years ago when Owsley beat Lee in the first round of the district tournament at Wolfe County? But he chose to come back, the next year he won the district and went to the state All A classic.

I remember the rumor then also about him to resign after taht game..

Man I LOVED that game.....the Good'Ol Days before the Wrigh era and Owsley was the favorite. :thumb:

Lee should make a solid effort to keep him. They have already lost their baseball coach who was among the top in the region and to lose their basketball coach would be devastating regardless of who takes over. You can't continue to change staffs every 3 or 4 years and build programs that can withstand the test of time.

I watched Danny Wright coach a game against Garrard County in a tournament his first year on the job (he hadn't coached more than five games ever) and he looked hopelessly lost. Just didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing.

A year later I watched him coach Lee County in the All "A" region tournament and was amazed at how much better he was on the sidelines.

Last year I watched him coach at the All "A" in Richmond, and while his team lost, he was even better. Its hard to believe how much he has improved as a coach over the years. Hopefully he'll stick with the program because all programs need stability.

So if you never attended his practices, how can you evaluate?

Hate to see coach Wright go. I hope he reconsiders, he has a very solid team of underclassmen coming up that could do some damage. Coach Wright is a wonderful coach and a great person. Good luck with your decision coach, hope you stay!

He evaluated him by watching his coaching during games.

Qualifications?

It doesn't matter what anyone on here thinks the decision to stay or resign is his alone. I can see his point in wanting to spend more time with his family. I love sports as well as anyone but family comes before all. Whatever his decision maybe I hope that he is satisfied with it. He does bring excitement to the game, but the Angel kid can do that as well. The way I see it Lee will be ok with either one of those guys coaching the team.

You coach during practice and make adjustments during games.

He should reconsider, very good young coach.

I don't understand? I was complimenting Coach Wright on his improvements over the years.

Danny Wright is a quality person and as a coach, he gets as much out of his players as any coach I've seen for a long time. Good Luck.
