Its official! Brad Sizemore was hired as North Laurels head basketball coach. Assistants will be named later! This has to be a great hire for North, hiring one of the states up and coming coaches and a hometown guy who has had success at building quality youth programs. Sizemore also had a struggling Garrad County team on the up swing before departing.

Should hear something tomorrow. Look for North Laurel to make a push for sizemore. If this happens I wouldntbe suprised if SL doesnt open the job back up!

Any word on this one? Who all has applied?

I think it would be a no brainer for SL to hire Sizemore. The majority of the kids that are coming through the system have all been a part of his AAU programs and all loved playing for him. With that being said I'm sure the job at South Laurel will garner a lot of interest from some high profile coaches across the state.

A great hire. I heard from my sources today that the press conference would be tomorrow evening. I guess this would make Brad Sizemore of Garrard County the front runner for the South Laurel job.

Anyone know when the coin toss between Corbin and South Laurel will be?

In my eyes SL is 13th region champs until someone knocks them off. Sure, Corbin has been dominating them this year but what if they meet in the regional title game this year? Will Corbin be thinking of the dominance of regular season or the downfall of their past post season experience against south? South will be ready, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT!!!!

I agree, they are good for 15-20 on any given night. The JV game was a thriller also. Took double overtime to get a winner.

That seems like control to me. They must have made some offensive plays that contributed to her having to over extend and possibly foul to prevent easy baskets. Or they made some defensive plays to cause her to have player control fouls. Any way you look at it I think the key to beating the lady owls is to control those two players. However the lady Owls are very dangerous because of the amount of senior leadership they have. those girls can score to and that makes them a very dangerous team.

Estill seemed to find the answer to beating the lady owls....control Wright and Turner by not letting them go off for 40 or 50pts combined

They were 14th region officials. I know two of them. Tommy Hutton and Jeff Ritchie.

Sounds like a lot of people are out to get South. Very tough game for South to get up for after a Friday night battle with Whitley then traveling to Montgomery to sit through an overtime game between Elliott and Anderson then play MNH and Jon Hood with UK assistant Jeremy Cox in attendance then turn around and play another district opponent on the road. Hats off to the cards for even getting a win tonight. Next up Seneca in the LIT then possibly Ballard Friday if they win Wednesday if not congratulations SL you get Madison Central at home. On the Whitley Co game, South only shot 10 free throws for the game and only connected on 3 of those. Therefore I don't believe that to be a reason Whitley lost the game. Refs protecting St. John, what a joke. St. John gets called for more fouls by just simply over powering people. If anything the refs are protecting the other team. If they would let St. John play like he will in college he would be putting up 35 to 40 a night and shooting 15-20 FT's. I heard he went for 28pts 7rbs and 14BS.

I thought he said that "they really knew what it meant to wear the uniform" I really couldn't tell though. This is the first time I have gotten to see Elliott and they made me want to "lace em up" and get out on the hardwood. You often hear coaches say "play every possesion" These young mean actually played every single possession in the second half.

Unsung hero of the game was Wes Dean. Dean held Hood to 12 points until the 4th quarter and the game got a little hectic and Hood scored 8 points to finish with 20. Scoring for th cardinals: Watkins 15 Gilbert 7 Dean 12 Smith 25 St. John 16 C. Smith 2. Really a good offensive performance after only scoring 44 against Whitley.

St. John did wear a knee brace tonight.

I have watched a lot of high school basketball this year. I like to think I know a lot about the X's and O's of basketball. Yet, I go to games and wonder....what is this coach doing? I'm guessing that politics gets a lot of these guys in. But, if you were in the situation to hire a coach what would you look for?

I think SL is supposed to play Shawnee. Which they may be out of the RPS for good due to a scheduling conflict with the LIT.

Not necessarily, Lee beat Owsley by 18 or so. Estill beat Owsley by 30 plus so forth and so on. Those spots are to be debateable.

Another dominating performance by Wright and Turner. IMO the best combo in the 14th.
