I hope that the Engineers and fans realize that this was a miracle shot. The officials certainly didn't 'give' the game to Lee, as Charles was knocked to the floor with 2.7 seconds remaining and there was no call. Lee had to inbound the ball 3/4 length of the floor, Charles caught it, jumped, turned in the air and released the prayer. He must'a been a good boy, 'cause it went 'swish'.

 

But as I said, the officials hardly give you a game when you have the ball 70 feet from you basket, down by 2, with 0.6 seconds left; especially after a possible foul that wasn't called on Estill on the prior inbounds play.

This one belonged to the Neers. The eye of a biased fan can be incorrect (mine included), but the tape does not lie. The NBA rule on end of game situations says if the clock reads .5 seconds , there is only time to catch and quick release. The basket tonight by Charles was made after he caught the ball with his back to the basket and in the air. and then turned to make the great shot.

In all my years of watching basketball, games RARELY if ever, are determined SOLEY on the actions of a referee or a time keeper, tonight , however, a blatant mistake was made. Let's hope the boys from Estill find a way to view this event from a positive perspective and then provide those folks in Irvine with one of the greatest runs in their atheltic history

I want to add that he jumped caught the ball at the top of his leap - then landed - then turned and then shot.

I remember seeing the bobcats beat an Owsley team a few years back like this. Ironic....I think not.

Both teams played well, but why don't we stop crying. Lee won 60 to 59 and that is that. I heard no comment about Estill only commiting 1 foul in the first half. Estill is a very good team and will make some noise come tournament time, but Lee played well tonight and deserved the win.

Biased eyes make for subjective views. I'm not saying that you are wrong....I haven't even saw the video, but I do know that if you let two opposing fans watch the same 'slow-mo' that quite often there is still disagreement. Situations arise often when a second is split and errors are made. If the situation were reversed, I am sure that I would want to conclude that my team was robbed. Even if errors were made, I know they were not deliberate.

 

Now this is my opinion, but if Estill's #10 and #4 aren't allowed to foul continually in the paint on defense (to offset Estill's lack of size), then this Estill squad would have lost most of their district games this year. Estill has good guard play on offense but use their hands A LOT on interior defense.

 

I'm no supporter of Powell, but that is why the 'neers won so handily against them. And it is how Estill stayed in the game at Lee.

I'll say what I said to Bobcat fans after Lee lost in a similar way to Hazard in a game that, it now appears, could very well have cost them the All A Regional, and that is, chill out people. You can find an unlimited number of situations that could change the game. If Estill folks are checking the video, they might want to look at Estill's coach breaking and throwing that clipboard into a crowd of people, that included Estill's cheerleaders, not to mention the old Badcat. Now that could have hurt someone.

Great post. The final score is acummulation of plays and not one moment in time. Good Luck in the distrcits to you and your team. I believe they will find a way to bounce back. Good things happen to good people and Coach Tiller and his his boys are good people.

Seems like alot of blaming referees for winning a game (Estill County) and losing a game (Hazard) to me. Nothing you can do about the officials. Just sit back and enjoy the games.

I dont blame the referees for Lee losing the Hazard game, in fact my point is the same as yours. Too many excuses.
