  1. Kind of off thread but interesting. I was doing deed work in Lee County Court House this a.m., and came across adeed where Bishop Frederick Brossart was involved in real estate transaction in early 1900's. Wonder if it was the same guy?
  2. Fetters, Brandenburg and Leisegang twins seem to be getting little notice among jrs as well.
  3. Lee County fans have already bought over 700 tickets for the game tomorrow. That pretty much tells the story about inyerest in 14th region.
  4. I hope none of Lee's players come down with what the old BadCat has had the last couple of days. What is scary is that daughter probably brought it home from school.
  5. The all a is much bigger in rural areas of the state than the more populated areas. The Sherman neace Atheletic Center in Hazard was absolutely packed two nights in a row, many people standing. The place was almost full an hour before tipoff Saturday. The kids cried, winners and losers both, and the fans were passionate and into the games just like at the regional at the end of the year. Going to Richmond is like going to town for most of us in Lee County, much easier trip than to Hazard so look for a lot of Bobcat fans Thursday. The all a is a big deal in the 14th.

  7. If Lee County plays the way they did over the weekend, somebody couuld be in for a big surprise.
  8. Lee County played a near perfect game. The only flaw is the baffling inability to hit free throws. Buckhorn scoring 56 fewer points than the night before tells the story on the defense. Rich and Fetters dominate inside, Brandenburg ran the offense perfectly, twins outside threat keeps Buckhorn defense honest, deep bench wore Wildcats down. Its been a long time baby, BUT THE BOBCATS ARE BACK.
  9. Wiseoldowl, the poster of #37 is an Estill County fan, think maybe is messin' with us?
  10. I think what is being missed here is the defense that Lee puts on these players. Smith is an excellent player, Neeley proved himself as a freshman for goodness sakes. But can any of you guys that have watched and understand basketball tell me who is a better defensive player than Caleb Fetters when he gets down and gets with it, which is most of the time? He is not real big, but is so deceptive with his quickness and the way he gets off the floor is absolutely amazing. Lee just plays good defense. Instead of being so dern critical, lets give some credit where it is due.
  11. I predict Buckhorn doesn't score 97. Lee plays a much tougher defense than what Wolfe put up tonight. Lee is going to win.
  12. Lee just has the Owls outmatched. Owsley played hard, gave it their absolute best, but Lee County just has too much defense. In my opinion, Owsley gave a better showing than Wolfe, particularly in the heart department.
  13. Wolfe played no defense. If they are going to be a real threat in the region they are going to have to pick up the D. Buckhorn scored one easy basket after another, and every time Wolfe would make a run, Buckhorn woul would reel off 3 or 4 easy baskets. You ain't gonna beat many teams when you give up 97.
  14. Rumor around Beattyville is that 14th Region All A may be switched to Knott Central. No doubt will be big crowd, but is it feasable to change this late? Anybody around Campton or Booneville hear anything along these lines? Who would decide?
  15. Lee should win. Neeley and Smith are top players no doubt, but Lee has much more depth.
  16. Does anybody know game times for Friday? Lee, Owsley, Wolfe and Buckhorn. One of the biggest nights ever for our end of the region. My blood pressure skyrockets just thinking about it.
  17. Way to go Owls! Proved me wrong. Just like old 56th district days Friday.
  18. Sorry, Bill Fugate, had my friend Gary (And your brother , I believe) on my mind.
  19. Lee County by a big margin. Thanks to Gary Fugate, John Bunn, and WJSN for covering the game. Folks here in Lee County should thank the station in Jackson for putting the Bobcats on the air, and maybe we can get some more games on.
  20. i may very well be wrong, but i can't see the owls getting a win. JBS not only has one of the top all a teams, but may well be the best team in the 14th region.
  21. Lee County has had a rich tradition in 14th region basketball, which has made the long dry spell particularly difficult for us oldtimers. 1968 Lee county was a missed free throw away from the state championship game. Regional champions in 1973 and very strong competetive teams for the rest of 70's and most of 80's. The 90's up until now have not been kind to Lee County basketball, although other sports, particularly baseball, have prospered. Hopefully the Bobcats are back for good. This year sure has been fun. Would love to see that third trophy in the case at the school on the hill.
  22. Agree with Roundleather, region can be won by bunch of teams, but I think this weekend moves Leslie to the head of the pack.
  23. I think Powell wins by about 10. I hope I'm wrong, but until proven otherwise, Owsley just doesn't have the firepower to beat a rapidly improving Powell County team.
  24. Professor, Lee didn"t play that bad against Powell, except for stretch in 3rd quarter. Powell much improved. I think Lee wins a close one here, probably by about 5.
  25. Caleb Fetters Lee County. Can score, a-one defensive player, and can jump out of the gym.
