  1. Lee has three pitchers that would easily be the top starter on most other teams in the region, Jason Osbourne, Corey Thomas and Matt Perkins, plus up and comer Josh Drake. Lee only gave up one run in the tournament, and Thomas has yet to throw a pitch. That really gives them an edge at the small school level, where most teams will only have a couple of true starters, and then they are limited by how much they can throw in a week. Add Lee County's solid defense and the fact that there is not a weak spot in the batting order, plus their experience and top notch coaching, and I really believe they can make some noise in the All A state level. Two big region games early next week against PCC and Estill will be fun to watch.
  2. Jason Osbourne one hits Owls. Lee outscores opponents 34-1 in 14th region All A, and plays only 15 innings over three games. That is about as dominant as it gets.
  3. Lee has soundly defeated Owsley. Was able to hear end of the game but couldn't catch the score. Did hear that Jason Osbourne pitched one hitter, and that Lee was ahead big after first inning.
  4. Jason Osborne hit long two run opposite field home run, Martin Hobbs hit one inside the park. Matt Perkins struck out last five JBS hitters, and pitched strong game. Lee plays winner of Owsley/Hazard game. Hazard finished up Wolfe County game before coming to Booneville, and won, but I do not know score.
  5. Riehard has 5-1. Report I had was 9-1, from two different people that I am sure were at the game. I am probably wrong as I was unable to attend game myself. Anybody know for sure?
  6. No details, only that game was called after 5 because of darkness.
  7. Hey man, grab a spritzer and chill. BTW, Lee County best in 56th, all players back, plus Matt Eversole, who was out with injury last year. Gene Combs top coach.
  8. I thought I posted on this thread last night! Anyway, said the best team won. Day, Morgan, and point guard (I think Howard) too much for Lee. Leslie made a believer out of me. I've not seen either Hazard or JBS, but I can say that they have work cut out for them with Leslie. Lee County Bobcats can take pride in bringing excitement back to Beattyville after a long time. 24-8, all a region champs, district champs, Not a bad season. The old BadCat has clubs out and is heading south for a few days, so won't be posting for a while, and just wanted to make sure I got on here and ate those words, Leslie fans, like I said I would!
  9. Somewhere in twenties maybe, but 30 points is a mighty big boast. Morgan is good, no doubt, but so are some of the guys that will be defending him. Again, I hope Leslie's coaches and players are taking the same attitude as some of the fans here, but I don't think so. If any player for Leslie scores 30, I'll tip my hat, say great game enjoyed watching it and go home!
  10. Good game for JBS. I am suprised about Estill's crowd not being there though. Maybe too far from Irvine to Hindman on a week night?
  11. Morgan may be good, but he won't score 30 against Lee. If that it what it takes, Leslie can't win.
  12. I had forgotten about Jackson being in the 56th, but I will say that I believe '87 Wolfe team was the best 14th region team to not play in the state tournament. They were excellent, but lost in a heartbreaker to Hazard in OT in Memorial Gym. Lee beat M.C. Napier that night and lost to Hazard in final. One of the most exciting nights of high school basketball I can remember.
  13. I don't know how anyone could "heavily favor" either team in this game. If either of he twins heat up,and one of the other is likely to, then Lee is a winner. Brandenburg is one of the best point guards in the region, and Taulbee could start at that position most anyplace else. Fetters can defend anybody, and can flat jump out of the gym. I am telling you, he got a crucial tip-in during the first half Friday night and it looked as though his waist was even with the top of everyone else's head. (I'm sure frontrowfan recalls the one of which I speak, because it kind of changed the momentum at that point of the game). Rich is big and strong, and is not intimidated by anyone inside. Johnson is another good defensive player, and Lee doesn't lose much when he is in the game. I don't think that fans on the east end of the region have seen Lee and Estill enough to understand how good the 56th district was this year, and what kind of threat BOTH of these teams are. It is just as likely a Lee vs. Estill final as Hazard vs. Leslie.
  14. Thanks for correction Professor. I have been on committee that picked all tournament team a couple of times, and it is HARD not to let regular season play affect your choices. Rich deseved award, I don't think Lee beats Estill without him.
  15. Lee has played Jackson twice, so they know what to expect from them. I haven't seen Cordia, but know they beat Jackson late in the year. I' ll take Jackson by 5 or less.
  16. No player has improved the way Caleb Fetters has from last year to this. I am as devoted a Lee County fan as you will ever see, and I didn't even know who he was when the season started last year. Every other kid from Lee has improved as well. Leslie might win, but it will not be by some of the margins I have seen posted here. Lee County beat Lexington Christian soundly, and they are probably as good as any team in the 14th. Lee has also beaten Estill four times, and if you believe that to be a small accomplishment, just ask the folks at Jackson City and Hazard how happy they are not to play the Engineers in the first round. I certainly hope Leslie's players and coaches are giving Lee as little respect as I am seeing here, but I bet they know better.
  17. Haven't drawn yet. Not until tomorrow. These are predictions.
  18. All tournament team was exactly how I would have picked if I had a choice. Rich and Fetters deserved individual awards, but if Estill had pulled it out, would have gone with Dixon for MVP, because, as usual, I agree with Professor.
  19. Actually ARC, Lee is 8-0 against elite eight. 4-0 vs. Estill, 2-0 vs. Jackson, 2-0 vs. Wolfe. Lee is 10-0 vs. 56th district teams this year, and I seriously doubt that that has ever happened before. How about it Professor? I do agree with your point ARC.
