  1. Just took a look at the Owls schedule, and it looks to be tough for them. They had better be meshing soon, or it could be really ugly from here on in. I saw them at Lee, and I really do think their is potential there, Neeley and Smith can carry a team if they get together. The danger is that when they realize that getting Smith back is not going to solve everything that they pack it in. They need to keep fighting. I hope they get some wins down the stretch and I think they can, but they have to keep their heads up.
  2. Neeley has really had to carry Owsley and it sounds like it may be catching up with him physically. Defenses really concentrated on him before Smith got back and it sounds like it has caused him to be really banged up. He is a better offensive player than six points.
  3. If Powell still had Stamper and Crowe, they would be one of very top teams in region.
  4. Is base ball going to be something in 56th or what? Still believe basketball Owls can be spoiler in District though.
  5. Professor we must have posted at same time. If you think it was fun to listen to you should've been there to watch! Great hard fought game between big rivals.
  6. Lee came out cold in second half and was down by 13 late 3rd and 4th quarter, came back to tie and win in OT.
  7. Most Lee and Owsley fans get along just fine. It seems to me a few folks have got all cranked up over nothing.
  8. I agree that the bickering should stop. The game should be fun, and this one was. I would like to comment, however, about the missed goaltending call. I will say that probably the referees did not see it, but an Owsley County player obviously grabbeg the rim and pulled it down, making a shot that may have gone in fall off the rim. I believe that the high school game has gotten so fast, and the players jump so much higher and that the defenses have gotten so intense that there is going to have to be some consideration to having a third referee on the floor. I have been going to games for a long time, and know many officials personally, and I don't believe for a minute that these gentlemen would consider doing anything but the right thing. I am also certain that if a cheerleader was elbowed in the chest that it was absolutely accidental. That being said, I do believe the time has come for a third official. I hope the Bobcats don't have to play Owsley again. They are going to be tough.
  9. Robert Smith played and played well. Owsley is dangerous.
  10. Lee County dominated game from start to finish.
  11. PCC is going to be consistently better than Lee County because of the size of the school, if for no other reason. Where the games are played, who the referee's are should not matter a whit. The bigger school is usually going to be better.Teams like Lee and Owsley and other small schools do find themselves in situations where they can be competetive on occasion and this may well be such a year for Lee. Would Lee be better off if the game were in Beattyville? Of course they would. Should PCC win the game this year? Probably they should, although Lee should put up a much better fight than in the past. I hope Lee County wins, but most of all I hope they make a respectable showing, win or lose, and I honestly believe they will.
  12. Lee County must be competetive in this game to prove that they are a legitimate 14th region contender. If they come and play their game they can win, make no mistake. There certainly is enough talent and depth. The problem is that Lee has played in so few "big games" in the past fifteen years that they must step up and show that they know how to play a quality opponent and give themselves a chance to win. I say they can do it. Lee in a close one.
  13. Lee County wins ten in a row. Friday night at Perry Central will demonstrate if Bobcats are truly contenders for the regional title in March.
  14. Lee County had not won any tournament since 1988 District Tournament, nor have they won eight straight games during that time. 3-0 in district for first time in forever. I have been watching for years, and only dreamed of beating Powell County and Owsley County both in same year much less in same week. Danny Wright has enthusiasm and willingness to work hard, he even coaches a little league team in Youth Sports. To say things are not looking up for Bobcats is ignoring the obvious.
