Bracken County High School defeated St. Patrick, Harrison County and Deming to claim their first District title in a long time. Senior Brittany Jefferson earned MVP. Congrats!

I remember in 2000 when the Cats Pause rated Bishop Brossart like 7th in the 10th region preseason poll. They ended up making the Elite Eight in the entire state. Anything can happen.

The Cats Pause rankings come out every single year, and there is always going to be some complaints. Yeah it's nice to see where they think everybody stands, but really though, who cares? It's all a bunch of names on paper. Do you get an award for being a top 10 player? No. Do you automatically make it to the Regional Tournament if your team is in the top 8? NO. Every different ranking is somebody else's different opinion. It simply does not matter. I would much rather be at the top of the list at the end of the season opposed to the beggining of the season.

BD Represent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Regional Tourney should be at the Mason County Fieldhouse every single year. Hands down.........

Moving the 10th region tournament away from the Fieldhouse is like moving the Masters away from Augusta National, IMO.

Great comparision. I was trying to figure out what HS gym it reminded me of. Yeah, it's definitely similar to the Toyota Center in Georgetown. Both are great facilities for a high school.

Whatever happened to former Frankfort HS star Tory Robertson? I know Tory signed and played his first year at Evansville, but I haven't heard anything since.

Congrats to Hoose. I have played against him and have seen him play numerous times. Good luck to him in the future.

As for the class of 2008 in the state of Kentucky: Darius Miller Mason County Scotty Hopson UHA Bud Mackey Scott County These three players have all been offered by UK already.

Harrison County lost Adam Cunningham, Cory Britt and the Custard kid(I can't remember his first name). They return a pretty good player in Julius Talbott. Pendleton County lost Tyler Mains, Pat Elliott, Jon Elrod, Terry Davis, Jeff Gibson and Dustin Bishop. Of the top seven off of last year's team they only return senior Kane Belcher. The 38th district is not seeded so anything could happen come tournament time.

The 38th district will be intersting this season because 3 of the 4 teams have new head coaches. My predictions are equivalent to Devilman's, but don't be suprised to see an upset or two. All four teams posess quality young talent. It should be a fun year. 1. Pendleton County Wildcats(28-4): Although they only return one starter this season, Coach Simms has waited his turn and should have a promising first season. 2. Harrison County Thoroughbreds(14-12): As the veteran coach in the district, Lee Kendall will try to lead some good young talent to their first district title since 1999. 3. Deming Black Devils(9-17): Things are looking up in Mt. Olivet as the Devils made it back to the 10th region tournament last season. They will be guided this year by Jamie Johnson. 4. Nicholas County Bluejackets(4-21): It can't get much worse this season in Carlisle as the Jackets have many winnable games on this years schedule. With a new coach they could possibly be a sleeper in the 38th.

I believe it was 1997 that Highlands lost to Eastern in the finals. Smith and Lorenzen were sophomores that year and Paintsville won the state tournament in 1996. Highlands was great in the late 90's.

Besides Jack Jennings, who graduated in 1988, those Homes teams from 88-90 had the Pouncy boys as well. Some serious talent in covington during that stint.

I would have to say Ryle. Great facilities, great parking, good food, spacious, pretty new, an okay shooting gym, so yeah Ryle. But if NKY extends to Mason County, then it's definitely The Fieldhouse.

Yes, the battle of the 'Cats will take place on November 25th in Ashland.
