Is there any truth to the rumor that the new Montgomery County gymnasium might have some problems and won't be able to be used this year? This is supposed to be a facility that will challenge the Mason County Fieldhouse as a site for the boys 10th region tournament...if there are some problems, that will certainly put on hold the idea of supplanting the Fieldhouse.

I don't know but I'm still trying to understand why they spent the money about two years ago to remodel their old gym if they were going to build a new one.

THe biggest problem is it's not as big as the Fieldhouse and noone wants to drive to Mt Sterling from Northern Ky.

I don't understand that either if you are going to build a new gym, I would think you would make sure it was big enough to compete with mason for the regional.

I've heard all the hype … surely this is going to be a super facility like I've been told, right?

It seems this is a ongoing argument that just wont die. Personally I would prefer the region where it is now.....Mason County.

I'd always rather drive south, than go north...

Don't most regions spread there regional sites around unless they have a place like Memorial Coliseum or something like that to make it an even playing field. I know Mason has a big gym, but is that fair to everbody year after year. Sounds to me like those small schools in Northern Kentucky are more interested in what they put in there pocket than if there school or any other school in the 10th has a chance.

According to MapQuest Winchester is 60.5 miles to Mason County and Calvary Christian is 57 miles from Mason County. I am no geography expert but are those the Southern and Northern most schools???

I got to tour the new Montgomery County gym during the Recreation Bowl in August. And no it does not hold as many as the Fieldhouse but it is a REALLY nice facility.

I still haven't seen a post on this topic that addresses the situation concerning the floor at the new gym. You guys can argue the topic of 10th Region Tournament location on another thread. I just want to know if there is an ongoing problem with the gym floor at the new MCHS gymnasium. What's the scoop?

Agree need to stay on topic. And to answer your question...yes there is problems with the new floor. According to my sources...it is going to be taken up and replaced. Not sure how long that will take. Also it is a GREAT new facility.

Is there any info on why they had to take it up? It looked realy nice early in the school year.

 

It is first class facility from the locker rooms to the concession stands.

The gym will be open for practice on Oct. 15th. Here is a link to some pictures of it.

They did have some problems, but all is good now.
