Have you seen the gym at Summitt Middle? No dead horse just my opinion, on a topic that many of us will never agree on.

 

Yes I have seen that gym. We don't draw a very good comparison IMO when we are talking about a gym hosting 16th region crowds versus 10th region crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. There is nothing like semi final and Championship Saturday night in the 10th region as far as crowds are concerned. Its been well documented and wrote about across the state. The fieldouse is the host and better suited across the board for everyone and its established. Thats why IMO I believe all this talk is like beating on a dead horse and expecting that horse to get up......not happening. Clark Co tried it many years ago and everyone knows those results. I don't think the region ever votes it through. I believe with 17 schools in the region, there would have to be 9 votes to pass it and I don't see 9 schools voting for it.

 

If it happens, I believe it will happen through direction/pressure from the KHSAA.

The Economic Development Council had it measured once and it is 31 miles from PC to the Ohio River between Newport and Cincinnati.

You are misinformed. It's maybe 2 miles from Newport on Carouthers road in Newport to Cincinnati and it's 24.41 miles from my parents house to there. I used to work there and it never took me more than 30 minutes to complete the drive. My parents house is .9 miles to the CC line on 27. It's about 25 or 26 miles tops from PC to the river.

Regional tournament basketball must be just a bit different over in the 16th if a middle school gym could host the tourney!

 

I believe it was stated that Montgomery's new gym seats 4200. I would be willing to bet that summit's has at least that capacity. I have been to the regional at Morehead when I could not find a place to stand and see, much less think about sitting.

I would be all for rotating it between Mason, Montgomery and NKU. I would prefer a neutral floor.

 

Rotating between the 3 would be the "fairest" option. Money, travel, whatever, it shouldn't matter... it should be rotated. IMO, it is totally unfair to allow Mason County host the region every year. Being from another Region, I have never understood how this could happen.

It is really simple. The member schools vote on it and choose Mason County and my understanding the vote isn't really close.

Every other year is not a problem, I kinda live in between both sites. So travel isn't a issue. Is there parking better than Mason County, will there have to be fans turned away?. Mason County faced this one year.

There will be no problem with parking at Montgomery, they have plenty. Their main lot has been resurfaced and expanded. It probably has about 500 spots. During their renovation/addition they added some parking lots which added a total of about 200-250 more spots. Including one directly next to the new gymnasium which will hold minimum 50 cars and another next to their football fieldhouse which added a minimum of 100 spots.

 

On top of that, if needed, they have a church across the street that could park at least 300 cars, and the middle school is next door with more than plenty of parking.

 

I would say altogether they have more than 1000 spots, easily.

Parking will be much better at Montgomery...Parking at Mason can be a nightmare, especially if it rains and you get your car stuck in the mudd parking on the hillside.

That doesn't make it right. All that tells me is the smaller schools, who may have no shot at winning, are selling out for the almighty dollar.

Boss Dunaway road to Falmouth is 12 minutes at about 65. The fastest I remember making it is 9 minutes. From BD to Provident Bank in Alexandria the fastest I've ever made it is 12 minutes. Leaving the bridge in Falmouth and crossing main street in Alexandria is not 20 minutes.

 

My 2 fastest combined times aren't 20 minutes and both times I was driving fast enough to lose my license.

 

Maybe the High School to the VFW in 20 minutes, but not to the city limits.

 

I once made it to downtown Cincinnati in less than 20 minutes from PC but that didn't make it a 20 minute drive.

Me and my buddy made it from Kenton Station to BD in 30 minutes. Representin'
