I was wondering this too. I got to know Wolfzorn a couple of years ago. He's a decent young HS coach.

St. Henry had a bunch of good seniors in 2003. Schmidt, Fabiani, Vieth, Otte, Szcarnick(sp??), and also a good sophomore in Lageman. I was at that first round session game against Mason Co. I remember the first game of the session was kind of boring: Oldham Co. beat Powell Co. easily. But the second game was great.

In 2005 when Pendleton County lost a nail-biter to P.R.P in the 1st round on Wednesday evening. The final score was 64-61 in overtime. Then P.R.P. beat Ballard in double overtime and went on to lose to the eventual state champion South Laurel in overtime. P.R.P. played in four overtimes in only three games that year. I'd say fatigue was a factor in that Tournament.

Mason County has two underclassmen studs: Darius Miller-JR. Russ Middleton-SO.

Their best player is the point guard Jesse Hall. He has been starting since his sophomore year and played a lot during the freshman season. He should have a good season. Besides Hall, the Polar Bears return four other seniors and a couple of juniors who are all solid. Their overall record last year was 13-15. With a new coach I'd say they would finish about the same as last year. They'll always be a contender in the class "A" field of the 10th, but in the district they have to contend with Mason Co.

Pendleton County is definitely playing in the Fifth Third Holiday Classic this winter.

I'm pretty sure Coach Fite played at Tollesboro High School and then transferred to Mason County. He transferred because the Lewis County schools consolidated to form the main Lewis County High School in either 1993 or 1994.

IMO, a solid goal for the young Wildcats this season is to win 18 games and try to make it back to the regional semifinals.

Chamberlein is great. Thornsbury is great. I also think that Bart Lennox is a solid young official.

Congrats goes out to Clint! I've played with him numerous times and let me tell you he deserves to be honored as the best amateur in Northern Kentucky.

I also have heard that Ashland PB is nationally in the top 10 of total wins all-time.

As for the Tomcat players, be ready to: run a alot, tuck in your shirts at all times, say yes sir and no sir, play hard, get yelled at, win and run some more.

During the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons Coach Simms was Pendleton's Freshman coach while assisting the JV and Varsity teams. During the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons Coach Simms was Pendleton's JV coach while assisting the Varsity team. In 2005-2006, he was the top assistant while Brad Cox was the JV coach. Not sure about his two year freshman stint, but am sure that they were .500 during the 03-04 season and 19-3 during the 04-05 JV season.
