I'll say that Coach Fowler and the Rebels pick up their first win of the season

Yes...Papa John's did not bid to renew the contract with the KHSAA and Western Kentucky did...so for the next couple of years the state finals will be held at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green

The Class 2A championship follows at 3 p.m. with the Class 5A championship game scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday’s contests will also kick off at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Class 3A championship game will be played first, followed by the Class 1A title game. He's just upset that in the Lone Oak - Marshall thread he talked about Marshall County not being that good this year and that they were beaten by a 1A school...and I just reminded him that the 1A school that beat Marshall County is right now probably the best team here in the Jackson Purchase at least in the first two weeks

Anyone that knows football here in western Kentucky knows that 35-21 in the Mayfield - Tilghman Series is an easy win :thumb:

As much as I would say that Mayfield wins by 3-4 TD's...it is Mayfield-Tilghman...and you can throw records out the window in this game. It should be another fun one to watch and to call. I say Mayfield wins..35-21

As long as Ft. Campbell does not read too much of their own press...or message boards...then I don't think there is a team on their schedule that can beat them. The only team I think can stop Ft. Campbell is the Falcons themselves if they start taking teams for granted...I hope not because I like it when there are Western Kentucky schools that do well. Good luck to the Falcons this week in taking care of some Tennessee schools

That 1A school just happens to be the best team here in the Jackson Purchase regardless of size this season...so don't go knocking the 1A school...at least Marshall County has the guts to schedule that 1A school...unlike some others here in the Jackson Purchase

Lone Oak should win this week fairly easily...and will be 3-0 going into the Lexington Catholic game...with that being the first real test of the season for the Flash. Marshall County is just too young this season playing primarily Freshman and Soph's.

On their first three drives their lineman and backs were just whipping our boys up front by doing smart techniques...then when they started getting tired late in the first half and into the 2nd half instead of using the techniques they got tired and started to hold when we would try to get off the ball resulting in the holds...plain and simple. We just wore down Trousdale County...you could tell late in the first half that they were getting tired...especially their backs.

All they need to do is go back and look at the film...you can clearly see the holding calls that were called on them...Mayfield wore them down in the 2nd half and their linemen starting holding when they got tired. When a player pulls away and you can see their jersey being pulled away from their pads...you have to call the holding. Apparently they didn't mind some of the questionable calls that went against Mayfield such as a controversial fumble on a Mayfield receiver that gave the ball back to Trousdale County near midfield. Apparently the fact that they had a 20-0 lead evaporate had nothing to do with them losing the game. It was a great game...too bad that Trousdale County fans, coaches, and even their announcers can't get over the fact that they got beat by a good football team in a great high school football game. I hope this isn't the lessons they want to teach their young men in that if you lose... whine and cry!!!

Congrats to Crittenden County on their bowl game win Saturday night over Massac County. Good luck to the Rockets the rest of the season...well except for maybe one or two games...lol. Congrats again CC and good luck next week

Great win tonght by the Cards...got nervous when it was 20-0 to start out in the 2nd quarter, but unlike the past few years this Cardinal team did not bicker and fight within ourselves, we did not panic and prevailed in the end over a very good Trousdale County team tonight...easy to see why the won the Tennessee Class A championship last year. Gong to bed...been a long day...but 2-0 not a bad way to kick off the year heading into Tilghman week!!!

Lone Oak should be 3-0 going into the game against Lexington Catholic as their next two games are against Reidland and Marshall County. Lexington Catholic should be a indicator for Lone Oak if they are gonna be a contender or pretender this year in 4A

From their roster Trousdale seems to have some pretty hefty boys on their line...may be a matchup of size versus speed this coming Saturday night. That is not to say that Trousdale isn't fast or that Mayfield doesn't have size mind you...as I suspect that both teams have a good mixture of both. Will also be interesting to see how Mayfield adapts to playing the wing-T this week after playing the spread offense last week against Marshall. Should be a great matchup and a fun game for both teams and both sets of fans...will be a good measuring stick for both teams and should show what they each need to work on for the rest of the season. Here's to a great game and that everyone comes out healthy in this early season battle :thumb:

Mayfield and Trousdale County play each other

Even though it was preseason scrimmage...Mayfield played toe-to-toe with a Milan squad that is rated higher than Trousdale County. Mayfield will have to play like they did last Friday and even a little better to win...but I think it will be a game that goes down to the wire as Mayfield has more overall team speed and talent than I have seen from a Mayfield team since 2002...hope they live up to that team's overall success...or at least the final result. Should be a great game to watch with two powerful teams hooking up. Mayfield 31 Trousdale - 28

Good win for the Tigers...was listening to some of the action tonight driving back from Marshall County...sounded like Tilghman had control of it until a couple of turnovers turned the game around. Big win for Hoptown...and a bad loss for Tilghman...with last years struggles...I just wonder if this will be the start of another long year for PT and Coach Randy Wyatt. P.S. heard that one of Tilghmans players was carted off in the contest...prayers go out to him and his family and that hopefully he will make a swift and full recovery

Great way to kick off the season for the Cards tonight. Nice to see a Mayfield team come out and pop somebody in the mouth on both sides of the ball. Jackson did not dissapoint with all the preseason hype as the only time he touched the ball offensively he scored a 12-yard touchdown and an interception in the first half. Mayfield did what they wanted to offensively and the line opened up some nice holes for Tyrese and gave Luke great time to throw the ball. And defensively the 1st string played very well for a first game. Also nice to see the receivers doing a great job of downfield blocking for the backs as I thought that Xavier played his best game ever tonight with his catches and more importantly the way he blocked tonight. Overall a very good win tonight...and the best of luck to the Marshals the rest of the season as they are going to be in a rebuilding mode the rest of the season as their points came late in the 2nd half with their starters against our JV and Freshman squads. Next week against Trousdale County out of Tennessee should be a fun one and a more of an indicator how good we are this early of a season...but a great way to start. Cards...keep working hard this week in practice and keep a level head.

...Amy Carrico. Coach Carrico has been an assistant with Graves County the past four years coaching the freshman and junior varsity squads. With this being the 3rd different head coach in the past three years she will bring a sense of stability to the team...as she has coached at some point most of the girls currently on the roster. Good luck to Coach Amy Carrico as the new head coach of the Graves County Eagles

Not too many 6'5" PG's here in Kentucky...he did a great job of handling the ball and his shooting really improved over the course of the year. If he continues to improve over for the next few years he could really be a D-1 type of player to keep an eye on.
