Have not seen a thread on this game yet...should be a good ballgame and could be very high scoring with both teams throwing the ball over the field. May come down to which team can run the ball the best.

Mayfield-Tilghman...only behind Male and Manual in the state for longest running rivalry

Is the team already set in their playoff spot...if so then the coaching staff may have wanted to give the kids a break from practicing with an extra few pounds on them with the pads. I don't have any idea what type of team they have this year...but if they are pretty sound fundamentally in blocking and tackling then why not give their legs a break for a week before getting back at it the following week. That would be my guess...but then again I have been wrong on more than one occassion.

By far and away this was Mayfield's best effort of the season. The team is starting to mature into the team that we thought we would have when the season started. The most telling sign was that when things went wrong in the 2nd quarter we didn't hang our heads like we have done some this season...we came out and took charge of the game on both sides of the ball. Another thing that I liked is that when Marshall started getting a little "chippy" in the 4th quarter, that Mayfield made sure to back away from anything that might get them a flag or worse. If we can continue to improve on what we done Thursday against the Marshals then I feel like we will be a tough out come playoff time.

No problem...got the word from Coach Morris this morning so I thought I would pass it along to anyone that might need it. I know we are the 2nd game here in western Kentucky to have the game moved to Thursday night...the other was Lone Oak at Fulton City.

The game this Friday night has been moved to Thursday night at 7:30pm at War Memorial Stadium in Mayfield. The coaches decided to move the game from Friday night because of Halloween to let the coaches, parents, and fans be able to celebrate Halloween with their younger children or to be able to attend Halloween parties. So the game this week is Thursday at 7:30pm and not Friday at Mayfield. If you will pass it along. Thanks, Cardinalsvoice08

Cards looked better and did what they needed to do...scored on all 5 times they touched the ball in the 1st half and one INT return for a touchdown. First half Luke Guhy 7-7 227yds and 3 TD's. Granted Fulton City is down this year after the last couple of years...but Mayfield did what they needed to do and now can hopefully focus on getting better before playoff time.

Mayfield won tonight so it will set up a 1st round game and 1st ever meeting between Bethlehem and Mayfield at Mayfield. Good luck to Bethlehem the last two weeks and we look forward to seeing you down here November 14th.

If Tilghman is forced to forfeit their win over Webster County by using an inelegible player late in the game then Tilghman goes from last year almost going to state to being out of the playoffs as Webster would be in by virtue of the forfeit win as they and Tilghman would have only one win in district play, and the forfeit win would give them the tiebreaker over Paducah. Who would have thought that a Tilghman team that some thought could get back to the substate game will now probably be practicing basketball instead of playing in the first round of the football playoffs.
