I too was impressed by Holy Cross's defense...especially the players mentioned above. Congrats to the Cougars on a fine season and the best of luck in 2009.

From the far western portion of the state...good luck to both teams Friday night...hopefully will get a chance to see one of you next Friday for the state semi's. Your game would be one that I would pay to see if I was not working a game of my own this Friday night.

I agree...this one should be fun...just hope the weather cooperates and does not rain during the game. Right now just a 20% chance of rain for Friday night.

Anyone who has seen this Mayfield team knows that they can not just show up and win like they used to be able to in years past. What this Mayfield team needs to do is show up like they have the past two weeks focused and ready to play football and keep everything else out of the way. That is the one thing that has really hurt this Mayfield team this year. When they show ready to play football...they are a very good team with a lot talent on both sides of the ball...but if they come out of the gates not ready to play or not have their head into the game...then we have seen that we can pretty much shoot ourselves in the foot several times and look like we have never practiced. So when some of us say that the real Mayfield needs to show up...that is what we are trying to point out...we need the focused and ready Mayfield team to show up to play...and not our evil twin brother...lol. IMO I am looking for both teams to bring their "A" game in this regional championship contest and look for a hard hitting affair from both sides. Good luck to both teams and here's hoping noboby gets injured.

Mayfield will get their chance to revenge a shocking midseason loss to a very good Crittenden County team when the two teams lock horns this Friday night in the Class A 1st regional championship

Cards are playing by far their best ball of the season after a rocky regular season. The first team defense has allowed only 7 points and less than 100 yds of total average offense in the first two preseason games. Against Holy Cross the defense completely dominated the game against a team coming into the contest averaging over 30 points and 300 yards of offense. Mayfield head the cougars to just 98 yards of Total offense and pressured the qb all night long. Mayfield is back to playing Mayfield football and right now are looking to be a very tough out here in the playoffs. Congrats to the Cards for not only winning the game in very cold conditions, but making a loud statement that Mayfield is a force to be reckoned with again.

IF Mayfield plays this Friday the way they did the past two playoff games I think the Cards get revenge in a tightly played game. Crittenden is playing well, but the old addage comes into play...it is tough to beat a team twice in one season. Mayfield is by far playing their best ball of the year and after the game in Louisville the Cards were already looking forward to playing the Rockets after losing to them in the regular season. Mayfield knows they did not play well in the first encounter and are looking forward to seeing what happens in the Regional Final. Should be a great ballgame and I will be rooting for whoever comes out on top in the sem-state game the following week. I'll take Mayfield 28-14
