Anybody got any stats?

Great win tonght by the Cards...got nervous when it was 20-0 to start out in the 2nd quarter, but unlike the past few years this Cardinal team did not bicker and fight within ourselves, we did not panic and prevailed in the end over a very good Trousdale County team tonight...easy to see why the won the Tennessee Class A championship last year.

 

Gong to bed...been a long day...but 2-0 not a bad way to kick off the year heading into Tilghman week!!!

Mayfield looks like an offensive dynomo. Giving up 40 pts is alot but Trousdale is a heck of a team. I believe the defense will get better and we will be one tough team come November.

Tyrese Murrell had a 157 yards rushing for Mayfield last night.

 

Xavier Shelton caught 6 passes for 206 yards.

Congrats Mayfield - May be on the way to bringing the 1A title back to Western Ky. Still can't overlook Crittenden County.

Mayfield cant overlook anyone. Critt will be for home field through out the playoffs. Thats enough said.

Trousdale fans are in melt down on their message board. Apparently not happy about some of the calls.

It was great to hear that Mayfield won this one. I root for any Ky team, but Trousdale has a really good football program. Great job Mayfield!!! Now strap it on and prepair for next week.:thumb:

All they need to do is go back and look at the film...you can clearly see the holding calls that were called on them...Mayfield wore them down in the 2nd half and their linemen starting holding when they got tired. When a player pulls away and you can see their jersey being pulled away from their pads...you have to call the holding. Apparently they didn't mind some of the questionable calls that went against Mayfield such as a controversial fumble on a Mayfield receiver that gave the ball back to Trousdale County near midfield. Apparently the fact that they had a 20-0 lead evaporate had nothing to do with them losing the game.

 

It was a great game...too bad that Trousdale County fans, coaches, and even their announcers can't get over the fact that they got beat by a good football team in a great high school football game. I hope this isn't the lessons they want to teach their young men in that if you lose... whine and cry!!!

This was every bit the shootout that I expected and more, great win for the Cardinals in a tough/physical game. No time for a let down with P.T. on the docket this week. Reading some of the posts on the Tennessee message boards, they are really letting the officials have it (with some calling Mayfield cheaters ... what that means I have no idea). A few claim that there will be no return game next year against Graves County. Many have a beef with the first 3 touchdown drives and the lack of holding penalties. Someone must have pointed something out to the zebras, maybe a coach or player at some point, that there was holdiing going on the Trousdale side of the field. Who knows, but when those flags starting coming out a regular basis against TC, you knew this argument would be made.

 

Offense countinues to run full throttle, short slants or curls could should turn into a big gainers this year as wideouts are able to make one on one moves and simply out run less athletic teams, such was the case this past Saturday. D is still playing hard, but holes were big against TC.

On their first three drives their lineman and backs were just whipping our boys up front by doing smart techniques...then when they started getting tired late in the first half and into the 2nd half instead of using the techniques they got tired and started to hold when we would try to get off the ball resulting in the holds...plain and simple. We just wore down Trousdale County...you could tell late in the first half that they were getting tired...especially their backs.

I would say that of the 10 penalties...most of them holding, there were two that were questionable. The others were fairly basic...you can't tackle the tackler!

 

Mayfield's offense is VERY good!

 

Trousdale got some good money to come to this bowl game and it is their coaches first loss ever! The referrees weren't the greatest, but they didn't hand Mayfield the game.

 

Trousdales pass defense is suspect at best...I was really surprised at how Mayfield was able to wear them down!

 

Hope #5 is okay...not sure if it was cramps or what but he looks like a stud when healthy!
